Not that I can really see - the gap is big enough, none of the parts cover more than 90 degrees, it isn't blocking one side, and the parts haven't been resized.

Example of my kinda pulsar user. Better defense then my orignal, without givin up lancets or a good amount of pulsars (11)

Funny tac producer, with lancets. Kinda fragile due to it being a frigate, but has a 1000 hp aegis section on the front. Uses the new updated rules, and is legit by the standard set by the one aegis design I have previously submitted. Not all that bad, but not all that great. It can be improved, feel free to do so heres the link.

Link to one of my ideas, I decided to go with my teamates ideas for now instead of my own. Semi close tac user, decent Aegis protection and flak. Not the best, but its a start. I'm probably going with a differnt idea, but if you like this let me know for now. Could also go with a one aegis version of this, switch around a few things, and add more firepower if needed. Again I have better ideas, but I just wanted to see if this was good enough for starts.

One of my shadier ideas, stay back and pummel type. Very good at distracting PD, and fires from extreme ranges.

Jump ship. Add 16 gatling pulses instead?

If it ain't broke, then don't try to fix it

Updated my previous post with a download link to the .shp file.

If you guys think the aegis configuration is too abusive, I have several other chassis I'm working on that I can post as well, I feel that overall the Jormungand design is the best at absorbing fire while still providing acceptable firepower without violating any of the rules. The gaps is big enough that weapons can penetrate it and it's by no means invulnerable. However I'm more than willing to scrap it and put together a new design if that's what our team decides is best.

Yeah, it should be fine. Right now the only thing that's really getting examined is whether or not the thing covers a whole side.

We would have to wait for Endless to show up and judge both our ships.

But I have a question. How did you ship not totally die to the last mothership's megatachs? That's the big problem with my close in Aegis ship, it jsut gets owned by tacs. I know that as far as we can tell there aren't alot of tacs on teh thing but still enough to make 600 and less dangerous.

The major advantage is that it's an 8 ship fleet so it's not expected to take the brunt of the megatachs all by itself. And yes, tachs are the major liability of the design, once they get bouncing around behind the shields trouble is afoot. What the design is GREAT at doing is absorbing straight on fire. Beamers can and will penetrate the front gap, as will more precisely aimed guns but pulsars stand no chance at penetrating it's thick carapace. As a result what I found tended to happen was that the tachs weren't CONSISTENTLY focused on my shup, and it's ability to soak fire from the other types took the heat off the rest of the team

:) you guys have the set up exactly how I'd like to see it, with a gap and not having too much area covered by aegis, though you can't target a resized section with an aegis shield, so just change those back to default and they're good. And cudo's to putting them at an angle - I'm kinda worried all the sections that are straight on are going to deflect too much fire...

Which is a problem how? :? Aren't we supposed to deflect as much fire as possible?

True, and I won't make you guys change them either (unless I pop open the ship and the space is really tiny), my only concern is ending up with 4-5 ships that can only be damaged by a direct shot - I want you guys to win, but I also want to give my ship a fighting chance.
Angle = anti-weasel
And, more importantly, anti-megatach! ;)

Until a hungry mothership decides that your ship looks tasty and flies over to say hello ;)

Right, there's advantages to both. Straight on shielding is going to protect from direct fire but be vulnerable to weasels and sidewinders, angles are going to sacrifice head on damage absorption for the flexibility to stop shots arcing behind the deflected sections.

All Endless is concerned about is preventing people from making their ships invulnerable, which would obviously negate the entire challenge and fun of the tournament, hence the rules about shielding.

More on topic, I've decided that the gluon configuration simply doesn't work on Jormungand, I'm going to tinker with the armament a bit hopefully have a new ship version up by tonight or the next day. More likely the next day as I'm going on a plane ride tonight.

Lancets are always a nice alternative. Your ship with its primary weapons less than the range of the lancets would probably give oyu one free shot.
