Empire/IC Weapon Plans

Post by Arcalane »

VMLS - Vertical Missile Launch System
A long-range "auxiliary" (though in reality, more of a secondary) weapon system employed by the Empire/Coalition, VMLS Missile Launchers are affixed to the port, starboard, dorsal or ventral facings of a vessel (as compared to forward-firing Torpedo Tubes) and cover a wide area around the vessel. VMLS Missile Launchers launch a constant stream of lower-payload missiles that overwhelm enemy point defenses and methodically tear the target's armour and hull apart.

They are capable of engaging forward targets at long range, or closer range engagements against vessels attempting to flank and outmaneuver Empire/Coalition warships.

Armageddon, Apocalypse, Annihilator (strongest -> weakest)
Torpedo/Missile for port/starboard launchers, HVR for dorsal launchers
Bullet Speed: 5
Tracking Rate: 3
Reload: 60
Other stats vary.

OOC Comments: The 5/3/60 speed/track/reload seems to be a sweet spot and nails the exact forward engagement behaviour I wanted as seen in the screenshots. The reload ensures a steady stream of ordnance that'll overwhelm point defenses - which is important, because Empire/Coalition warships mostly use uninterceptable weaponry based off the Particle Cannon and Particle Rifle, or beam weapons.
