Initial Imperial Ships cannot be analyzed by their owners due to extensive aging: the ships are so old they have patchwork repairs upon patchwork repairs upon patchwork repairs. It's hard to tell where the original hardware begins and where the field repairs end.

Any new ships produced by the Remnant that are somehow captured (or mothballed ships that are brought out of storage upon capturing an old Command Center) can be analyzed, however.

Analyzing a ship permanently removes that ship from play. No resources are gained. The analyzing player has a chance to get new technology information dependent on prerequisites (if they do not have prerequisites, either nothing happens, or the prerequisite is added/unlocked) and if successful, the topic is added/unlocked (if not already known) or some free points are placed into the topic (if it known and/or has been started).

So what naming scheme do you have in mind for this series of ships?

Hoplite its a greek/roman infantry role. Are you rolling with that?

After some discussion, it looks like we might be using roman weaponry (spatha, gladius, etc.) for ship names.

Not sure about the non-com ships yet. We'll see...

HM suggested generic military equipment. Works for me.

Squishy has suggested shields for defensive emplacements. Also works.

Defense Platforms
Cetratus - Light
Parma - Medium
Scutum - Heavy

Pathfinder/Manica
Image
MASS: 7225/7225
ARM PRI.: 2x Autocannon
ARM SEC.: 2x Vulcan
MOD.: Imperial Networked Sensor (SenStr 50, ScanSpd 2)
SPD: 2.42
ACC: 0.03
TRN: 0.67

A light sensor ship, the Pathfinder (or Manica, as it's known in the Remnant Navy) is a new, post-Collapse design. It employs a special sensor module using pre-Collapse technology that functions as a Standard Sensor alone, but gains an extra 5 Sensor Strength per additional Pathfinder present in the same fleet, and an additional point of Scan Speed if there are three additional Pathfinders in the same fleet besides the current one. Thus, the Pathfinder is frequently employed in groups of four or five, all co-ordinating their sensor sweeps for maximum efficiency.

Effective Sensor Strengths and Scan Speeds:
1x Pathfinder: 50 SenStr, 2 ScanSpd
2x Pathfinder: 55 SenStr, 2 ScanSpd
3x Pathfinder: 60 SenStr, 2 ScanSpd
4x Pathfinder: 65 SenStr, 3 ScanSpd
5x Pathfinder: 65 SenStr, 3 ScanSpd
etc. etc.

Att.: Pathfinder on the move.

Bloodhound/Balteus
Image
MASS: 7225/7225
ARM PRI.: 2x Ion Repeater
ARM SEC.: 2x Missile Launcher
SPD: 2.42
ACC: 0.03
TRN: 0.67

A modification of the Pathfinder, the Bloodhound (known as the Balteus in the Remnant Navy) handles almost identically, thanks to very careful balancing of the ship's thruster output. It's primary purpose is to escort the Pathfinder - a task in which it excels. Acting in packs, the Bloodhound launches missile volleys as it closes in to make use of it's two Ion Repeaters.

I'm on a roooooooll~

Stormbringer/?
Image
MASS: 15265/15265
ARM PRI.: 1x "Thor's Hammer" Railcannon
ARM SEC.: 2x "Seeker" Remnant Missile Launcher
ARM TER.: 2x "Shredder" Remnant Vulcan
ARM QUA.: 3x Heavy Autocannon
SPD: 1.61
ACC: 0.02
TRN: 0.60

A long range (both in terms of supply storage and weapons) light-medium warship, the Stormbringer is a test platform for the new Thor's Hammer-type Railcannon. The Stormbringer has decent speed and maneuverability for it's size, and fairly respectable armour too. It's array of weaponry is not to be trifled with either; the railcannon has exceptional range, backed up by two missile banks. Anything closer, and targets must face two Shredder-type Vulcans and a pair of Heavy Autocannons. Anyone hoping to take down one of these "artillery ships" would be well-advised to launch their attack on it's flanks.

I have a hunch my math here doesn't add up but whatever. IC powergrid bonus doubled for this sucker. Not going to any lengths to hide it so we can catch the fools off guard if they try to base anything off it and we decide to change things up before release. ;)

Imperial Coalition Destroyer, Unity Class
Image

Size: 195
Mass: 35910/38025
Energy: 4240/4320
Section HP: 21375 (x2; double armour bonus)
Speed: 1.42
Acceleration: 0.03
Turning: 0.46

Power Core
1x Ultra-Heavy Fusion

Propulsion
2x Light Ion
1x Heavy Ion

Armament
8x Neutron Cannon
4x Ion Repeater
2x Missile Launcher
4x CIWS Gun

The Unity doesn't pack beam weapons, but what it does pack is a powerful array of neutron particle cannons. A single volley is enough to pulverize corvettes and maim frigates. Only other Destroyers have the power to stand up to a Unity's barrages for any length of time.

Oh, and they're never deployed alone. Unity-class Destroyers act in pairs or triplets. If you think you've isolated one, chances are that #2 is about to drop out of subspace behind you. The Coalition maintains about a dozen of these warships, with around half in service and half in active duty at any given time.

The Unity's main guns are also rigged for Direct Control use. Why? Why not. :)
