Desert's random ranting (Warning: extreme randomness)

Post by -Desert- »

I was terribly bored when I remembered someone from ShellCore Command came over and posted a dozen curly-toed-weirdo ships. Curious, I looked further into the thread. Saw people ragequit. Saw Anna successfully burn Infect (the SCC user) down, and with good reason.

I know those forums and Infect is a moderator (Sounds impossible right, Anna?) and I think that's the reason he's arrogant.
From what I see, BSF is actually popular for building things over there. Infect is probably the worst they could have post here and I find it strange he hasn't been banned yet.

Oh well, back to what this is actually about: that thread in their forums dedicated to OUR game. It seems the link Miram placed did more than anyone could have expected.

On the other hand, it is possible that some of those SCC members decide to leave their forum and join us! That would be great, as we NEED some new users.

(Please remember that this is my personal vision and that you may find I am an idiot to start a thread about it.)

Quite frankly I wonder why I ever began making ships for this. You see, my work never becomes quite as good as I feel it deserves to.

Honestly, these forums are pretty much dead. However, I do know that BSF is a popular spriting tool for mods in the game Starsector (see Blackrock Drive Yards on their forums). Which also happens to be a great game. As for ShellCore, I never really paid any attention to those people, as they all think that having a brick covered in guns is somehow aesthetic.

Infect was funny. Just like, how does a person that stupid manage to function? I don't think anyone knows. He should be the subject of scientific studies 'n' shit. Anyway, that BSF thread on the SCC forums has been there for ages, and my posting in it was ages ago too. I figure most of the people on that forum who were interested in this one would have come here long ago.

Afaik, some of the posters there are ex-posters here anyway. When I browsed that site I found lots of weird, creepy posts featuring me. Talking about me like I'm the devil or something. It was funny. I ain't no bogey-man or anything, I'm just a guy who occasionally gets cranky and yells at people, jeez.

Dead. But it lives on as a spriting tool for Starsector... It looks like someone fed some hyperactive-hyperdetailed sprites into BSF and added a cooler looking GUI.

You are probably twenty times more sensible than Infect. Of course, you yell at people but that is when they have put their own crapships/sprites in their ears so you have to yell their ears off their heads.

These forums don't have any malfunctioning idiots who somehow got a staff rank. They have (or had) two, the first being Infect (Like Jay2Jay he has no clue how to recieve criticism) and the other is Spar. Him ending up in here might have meant a 60-page-long thread every month or so. His profession seems to be derailing threads. I am glad these forums only have an occasional idiot without any respect or common sense.

Right, that was my rant over something ages ago. Did you like it? :3

We had a malfunctioning idiot who somehow became a moderator, but compared to Infect he was a paragon of intellect, wit and good decisions.

Rants about shit that happened ages ago are fun.

 Really? You liked it? Thanks! It was me raving at random but if you liked it I can try to find stuff in here/somewhere related to this to rant about on a somewhat regular basis.
P.S: Seeing some people have a custom title, mine could be something like 'Raving idiot' or whatever you think suits me.

Ignore that last line, it is complete bullshit.

*Bumps his ancient thread*

How about a rant about Ukrain and Russia? I'd love to, but I don't know if anyone wants that.

I don't think discussing politics is aloud (but if it were, I would certainly have a few things to say about it ;D ).

Alright, I've got some stuff for a rant now.

A few weeks ago, I wrecked my only USB stick I had left. I decide to go to some store to buy a new one. They claim to be the cheapest. I buy this Lexar 16GB USB 3.0 and it stops working after a week. What the flipping hell? I paid 17 euros for this shit. I go to a specialised store for Pcs and stuff. I find an ICIDU 16GB USB 2.0 for 12 euros. For fuck's sake, USB 3.0 isn't going to make much difference on 16GB of data, is it? And for this new 3.0 I HAVE TO PAY MORE AND IT BREAKS AFTER A WEEK. Jesus cow.

I think I'm going to complain about this, even though the Lexar is USB 3.0 and the ICIDU is not. They're not the cheapest, because they apparently sell the shittiest shit (lols) ever. The liars.

I demand a reaction! :P

That's some bad luck you've got there :/
(or a particularly evil USB port)

I've had a pretty good experience with Kingston and Corsair USB drives. I have a DataTraveler 2.0 that's about 6 years old and still works perfectly.

USB 3.0 can make a pretty huge difference to read/write speed (as long as the device itself is of decent quality - a cheap and nasty USB 3 thumb drive might only be slightly faster than a typical USB 2 thumb drive).

I guess. I should have sticked to Icidu flash drives anyways, they're good for their fairly low price. Though they lack the USB 3.0 speed for now, they work! :P

The USB port isn't evil though. My school's PC's... That might be a different story. I know some of the very old ones have no working ports in front. (if not all)

Corsair is known for it's large assortment of high-quality components and other stuff. The faulty Lexar might have been a one-off though: Lexar apparently specialises in memory products.

On a side note, I came across a very, very, VERY old topic with section suggestions. I noticed two nice-looking section sprites you made :D

Oh right I need more rant subjects, you know any? :3

Wait, how exactly did your first one break? I've left my Kingston out in the rain once and it still worked.

The first one was just a little test gone wrong and the plug bent. But then, it was already old, about 5 years.

Actually this rant wasn't quite what I would like to do. However, I suddenly remember I wanted to do a rant about Windows XP and the fact that Microsoft is pulling the plug. I'll post it today, but I need to charge my laptop at school, which is quite a nightmare :|
