Anyone here ever played EVE Online?

For everything else. Video games, music, movies, sports, you name it.

I read some cool stories about it and I'm just about to start my free trial, so I'm curious.

Ever since reading The Two Billion Isk Scam, I could never get the will to play EVE.

Yup. It's internet spaceships with lots of grinding and pretty graphics. It's not very user friendly at first, and unless you're doing something significant in the world it's easy to get bored of the game and yet so addicted to the shiny internet spaceships that you can't put it down. :P

You also need a good PC to get acceptable FPS even in asteroid belts. :?

Sigh... If only there was an MMORPG that didn't require grinding...

It's why I gave up playing them.

*coughGuildWarscough*

I played EVE for a weekend. I'd play it if I had no life and more money than I could spend on space tourism.

Well, the only major grinding is waiting for skills to complete or increasing your reputation with a faction.

And there are grind-less MMORPGs. Tabula Rasa is a great example. I have never once had to grind between mission chains.

Though I did have some trouble finding the mission chains. :P
