Some insight into the creative process of video game design

Hi everyone... Well, I recently discovered this fledgling YouTube channel and thought it was pretty interesting...

...It's the channel of an artist and video game designer called Chris Watts and is, over the coming months, going to feature videos detailing the creative process that goes into creating the design document for a video game. The first video of this series is already up...

As I said though, fledgling channel is fledgling and thus far hasn't got much attention, so I figured I'd shine a bit of a spotlight on it, however weak and briefly lit that spotlight might be...

Anyway, I think the concept game the guy's laying out, a title called Tower City, shows some promise so far, but what do you think?

I don't get it. A guy makes video series about... writing a game design doc? Thats it? Why can't he just, you know, write it down? Why make a video about it? Whats the big deal?

Agreed. I say that if you're going to do something like this, at least make a video series documenting you making that selfsame video series. (infinite webcam loops ftw: if you have an external webcam, bring up the preview program on your screen, then aim your webcam at the screen to get an infinite tunnel effect, like when two mirrors are facing each other. Graphics lag is fun, too.)
