Griefing is deliberately causing grief for no other purpose than own enjoyment, usually by exploiting the game in an unintended way.

There is no griefing in EVE. Well, okay, there is some probably, but its uncommon and looked down upon. And its certainly not piracy - its a part of the game. If you got blown up by pirates, in 99% of cases its your own fault and could be avoided.

The REAL cons are:
- Entire game revolves around money, but for the usual player the only way to get it is grinding.
- The real money (and fun) is in zero-security systems, but most (if not all) of it is already taken up by established corporations/alliances.
- There are players (with access to sources of profit) who don't even have to do anything to earn money because they got lucky, were 'first', or are simply in an established alliance/corporation. At the same time, there are players who must grind for a week to afford a battleship.
- Huge timesinks. There are many things that are extremely boring and take a lot time but are a necessity.
- Lag in big battles.

If EVE were just down to money and skill in game it would be fun. But you have to sink so much time into it to get anywhere.
an entire month for a single skill?
yeah sorry ill go buy another game instead.

Tremulous http://tremulous.net/

Fun FPS that pits generic bug Aliens against generic Terran soldiers. Includes base building elements and each side "levels up" as the game progresses. Both sides unlock new structures, and Aliens get new evolutions and Terrans get new equipment like power-armor and better guns.

Pros:
-Installers available for all major operating systems.
-You can omnomnonnom people as a zergling rip-off.
-Lots of user created maps greatly expand gameplay.

Cons:
-The occasional griefer who will screw over your team by ruining your base.
-Graphics aren't all that hot and the interface is stupid sometimes.
The walls have eyes: the shadows we throw are the shadows we try to throw off.

One of the things I really like about the aliens is you can run on the ceilings. Takes some getting used to the perspective, but so much fun to ambush someone from the corner of the ceiling.
Another Con:
Occasional Wacky level design. Takes forever to find the enemy base in some levels.

Sure, if that skill is really high rank, like Battleships 4 or something to do with Capital Ships.

Otherwise it's usually a lot shorter - but being a jack of all trades can be as bad as Crippling Overspecialization.

That was for Excavators 3 or 4 I believe.
Was a prat because I just wanted to get on and fly the Hulk, and do some mining.

Minecraft
Pros: A no-holds barred server-crammed world of creation. Even if there's TNT in it you can't make it explode in Multiplayer.
Gets to be addictive. Can be modded. Server maker also available.
Cons: You have to buy the game (though it doesn't cost much) to play the latest version. Griefers aplenty.

Just a note on NavyField, earlier levels when still going through DDs the main strategy is to retreat, let BBs, CVs, CAs fight it out and then pursue the weakened ships as you please. With the submarines just use BBs and other obvious-expert player DD ships get them.
