By blind luck i got into the closed beta a few days before it ended (its over now) and managed to play a few matches. And let me tell you, this game is bloody amazing.
Not only Blood Bowl is just pure fun by itself, but this is a near perfect adaptation - a direct port of the TT game/rules to the PC (although there will be an alternative real time mode). Its how GW games should be ported to PC.
Holy shit @ Black Prophecy and Naumachia - and I thought twitch space shooters were dead ^___^ Black Prophecy looks to be everything that I had wanted EVE to be - essentially my dream space game, but Naumachia looks pretty damn intense, and if it's a pay-once deal then sign me up!
So I went to see Star Trek yesterday...pleasantly surprised with it actually being decent.
Forget everything you know about Star Trek, seriously. That's what they say, and they're right for it. Gone are the pathetic characters. Gone are the pathetic storylines. Gone the pathetic dialogues. The new movie has good acting, a good storyline (IMHO), and the characters are actually believable, even if based on their original incarnations. Technobabble is reduced to a minimum, especially compared to abysmal monstrosities like Voyager. Just enough to excuse a doomsday device, and even it doesn't have a complicated scientifical name that makes no sense. Also, quite some decent humour (spoiler: Scotty getting beamed into a water tank was hilarious /spoiler).

Also, gone are the flimsy pathetic starship designs. Even though UFP ships still have that illogical design and the bridge is still the utmost top of the ship, the engineering section's inside actually looks like an engineering section, with pipes, tubes, turbines, scaffolding,... Ships carry a shitload (and I mean shitload) of beam and pulse weapons (still phasers, sadly) that will make you blink twice when all that opens up. They even use their energy weapons to intercept torpedoes to great effect. A single torpedo is enough to destroy a battlecruiser, shields have decent mechanics behind them... all you ever wanted about ST mechanics. Alien ships actually look alien, so does the alien architecture.

In short, a good movie. Good action, impressive special effects, good acting, good dialogues, nice story, decent attempts at humoristic relief. Even though they make use of implausible manners of time travel, you'll excuse it because some details are properly worked out. Even though Enterprise still looks like shit, you'll excuse it because it actually functions and looks like a warship now. At least that's what I did.
