Hooray for insightful philosophical discussions! Glad we can discuss the future of humanity without throwing rocks at each other.

Personally, I'd take a dysfunctional democracy over a fascist dictatorship any day. The giant monkey-poo fight that is the American Congress is way better than having my front door kicked down by the secret police.

@Jaffa:
the foolish and weak should be allowed to rot in their own pestilence and the brilliant and strong should be risen up as high as possible. It's as simple as that.
Judging from your last few posts here, I'm going to take your last post seriously. I agree that the foolish should rot, but that doesn't mean that we should raise the exceptional onto a pedestal and leave the weak behind. Natural selection has its uses, but we're not animals. The strong should help the weak survive. We humans empathize with other humans. That last post you made resembles the thoughts of cruel and heartless dictators. We shouldn't have to glorify the best and brightest of our race. We can help each other in this world if everyone takes the time to realize that we're all in this together.

And how do you define stronger and/or better?

those who are stronger are the people whom soldier on no matter the odds, no matter their idiocy. the weak are those whom quit.

Duly noted.
the future of the earth is the movie idiocracy

no, but the exceptional should be treated better, for they are better
not to mention they have a city known as Copenhagen
I see you've made a joke in your last post, but nothing about you saying outright that you were kidding. Sorry if I missed it, but sarcasm is so hard to read on the internet. Well, I'll just try to leave it at this: The strong may be better than the weak, that elitism streak I see in your posts deserves no place in this world.

well, everyone has their own opinion, and mine is that the people who work hard despite their problems are superior to the quitters.

But what about potential? Should those that have quit be left behind, or hsould a hand be lent in the hopes they can pick themselfs up and realize their potential?

in my experience, people seldom change their ways, despite their potential. i say seldom because i myself am an exception. now you have a point, people should be lent a helping hand, but only if they are bold enough to ask for it.

I have to disagree, people are very capable of change, I have changed, my friends have changed, people I didnt like have changed. So either my area is a huge exception or I'm just crazy eh?

i am not arguing that people change... I am simply stating that people who are slackers and quitters typically don't change. everyone changes, however few change in this way.

Ttal random philsophical thought time:

If this kind of action comes with intelligence, does this mean that Natural Selection is complete bogus? We are the smartest, strongest race, yet we are killing ourselves . . . if this is the path intelligence takes, will it happen on every planet? Is it not a natural part of our planet's life? Is the entire system of evolution totally fruitless, because each intelligent race will thereby kill itself from the remnants of its animal past colliding with its newfound intelligence and morals?

Chaos, that is an excellent point. this is the fatal flaw of the human race. we will destroy ourselves before we become great.

We can and will survive. We are not frail beings that will crumble before the universe. We have survived for a long time and we shal continue to do so. Just because times may look tough sometimes doesn't mean humans are just goina fold over and go extinct.

if you look at history, we are an insignificant speck, and will eventually fade away, unless we do something drastic.
