It's just ever so slightly outside of the map. I'll add ye to the list. If you'd like to flavor the system as being on the edge of galactic civilization, feel free!Shadow Hydra wrote:A question, is LP 656-38 an "outlier" world because its outside the hexagon? Either way, it shall be my home system.

I seriously doubt that A type stars can support life, considering they'll go 'OH SHIT THE CORE IS MADE OF IRON, I CAN'T FUSE THAT' before any significant progress on life is made. Specifically, the star Altair is less than 1 billion years old. That, and during their protostar 'HAY UNIVERSE, I'M ALIIIIIIIIIIIVE' throes of shooting fuckloads of extra mass everywhere (reflection nebulae) they'd probably also blast away the planets surrounding them...
Also, that chart is false, considering it has Eta Cassiopeia as an A-type star. It's actually a really healthy G0V-type star, meaning that it's a -bit- warmer than our Sun and within the same "age" range, being middle-aged as well. Of course, the fact that it's a spectroscopic binary means that it has a binary companion whipping around it at high speeds...
Yeesh... astronomy noobs.

...also... the +- values have nothing to do with luminosity class whatsoever. Luminosity class is more related to the stage that a star is in during its lifespan - hypergiants (Eta Carinae) are 0, supergiants (Betelgeuse) are I, Giants (Pollux) are III, main sequence (Sol) is V, and white dwarfs (Sirius B) are VII.Comus wrote:The +- numbers make up a luminosity chart. I just grabbed something from Google for the pic, and this is a map of the local stars.TrashMan wrote:I'll take Altair as my system...oh, what are those +- numbers above the stars?

Delta Pavonis, plox.
Also, if you take in account realism, fighters probably don't have enough energy to travel that far. They have speed, but don't have range.

If you take into account logic, fighters piggyback on a bigger ship, such as a strikecraft-carrying cruiser or anti-patrol combatant warfare destroyer. (God damn, now I need to think up a better excuse to what the spacefaring equivalent of an ASW destroyer is.)TehJarl wrote:Also, if you take in account realism, fighters probably don't have enough energy to travel that far. I was wondering how to frame it without people thinking "Oh, it's just Anna being an asshole again".Anarki wrote:This is the most fucking retarded piece of bullshit I've seen since trader.
Honestly, what the fuck.
I thought everyone fucking understood that the Cold War wasn't a fucking goddamn game! It's a roleplay, for the love of god!
Yet you create this abomination of a game. What the FUCK.
Now I don't need to. You said it all for me.
Edit: Oh, actually, one thing you didn't say. Having derekiv as a moderator is like hiring a convicted criminal to be a police officer. He's the only person who actually messed up enough to get KICKED OUT of the first Cold War.

Aye. They ride piggyback. But he also mentioned that no other ship type can travel at the same speed.Aralonia wrote:If you take into account logic, fighters piggyback on a bigger ship, such as a strikecraft-carrying cruiser or anti-patrol combatant warfare destroyer. I would assume that has to do with tactical speed as opposed to strategic speed.TehJarl wrote:Aye. They ride piggyback. We're using the chart for system location and ID...star type is pretty much irrelevant for that matter and is story/faction dependant.Aralonia wrote:I seriously doubt that A type stars can support life, considering they'll go 'OH SHIT THE CORE IS MADE OF IRON, I CAN'T FUSE THAT' before any significant progress on life is made. Methinks we should label our faction in the CustomShips forums..like
CW2 FACTION: New Vanyar Allaince
This makes threads easy to find visually and makes it clear that ships are balanced in regards to other CW2 ships.
