next time, link to the mirror that doesn't make you sign up for anything or wait in a queue.

Missiles are kind of crap without targeting lasers for some reason. You'd think they'd find it easy to hit cruisers and such, but apparently not.
Just watch how the Rebel ships play. They have good missiles, almost everything has a targeting laser, and they love EMP weapons. I think they have the best ships visually too, and one of the best fighters visually (the Achilles).

Darn kids. Back in my day, if we wanted something off the internet, we had to run a mile, uphill both ways, in a blizzard, with no shoes on!
There are other mirrors here. I used the 4gamers one. Site might be in german, but it's easy enough to get the gist of things from the layout, what with the big red DOWNLOAD button and whatnot.
Last time I checked the site download itself was really slow though, so I wouldn't bother with that one.

I've never had a download speed that low from Filefront, so yeah.thanto_ wrote: and download at reasonable speeds than get stuck at ~150kbps at Filefront.
But to get back on topic, I enjoyed the demo so much I snagged the full game off of Impulse. Its very fun optimizing your warships, the variety of different modules you can get is great and really adds a lot of stratergy because you can make a new sub-class for an individual battle based on the spatial anomalies of the map.

Why not just buy the game, or like me pre-order it. =P
Of course pre-ordering requires time travel now.
Missiles are a pain in the butt to have working well, they require at least one target painter, and if the enemy has a missile aiming dirstupter thing more than half your missiles curve around and hit nothing.
Still a Cruiser with 5 Missiles and a target painter or two works well enough.

I've found that missile cruisers aren't as effective as I'd like them to be. It's better to place them on frigates as supporting weapons, since frigates are more easily massed (and hence more missiles would be massed). Missiles aren't very effective DPS dealers, it's better to place higher DPS weapons on your cruisers, like plasma cannons.
I personally love the ion cannon. It tears incredibly quickly through shields, and it has an absolutely killer DPS. If you let the enemy fleet engage before sending your ion cannon frigates in, they can sneak in and then absolutely devastate the enemy fleet.
Although I only have the demo. I will get the full version as soon as I can, hopefully.

Plasmas worked well for me on the Fed ships I must say, and from what I saw on the forums they were the #1 weapon during the beta stages - massed plasmas could kill anything. Frigate-borne Missiles don't have quite enough punch to actually damage Grade II Cruiser Shields, which can lead to stalemates in certain situations.Normandy wrote:I've found that missile cruisers aren't as effective as I'd like them to be. Feels to me like all ships could do with a couple more hardware (non-weapon equipment) slots.
