Half a dozen Caliga-class (no, that's not a typo) Cargo Transports in a convoy. A repurposed meta1 design that was never seen, and I don't know who sent it to me.

It was me who send 'em. Glad to see them being used for something, also it seems like you improved my original design a bit so nice.

Statted, engined and now armed with two Autocannons. The Caliga-class Transports are horrendously slow and soft (each section has only 50 HP, barring the engines, though the cargo containers on the 'heavy' transport are 75 each since there's only four) and should be kept away from a warzone at all costs. They will die if you so much as look at them funny.

The column is lead by a CCT (Crate Cargo Transport), which is followed by an HCT (Heavy Cargo Transport), a CMRT (Canister M? R? Transport) and finally a BCT (Box Cargo Transport).

CCTs are primarily used for commercial and consumer goods (clothing, electronics hardware) whilst BCTs are used for industrial goods (power tools, machinery). HCTs are used for heavier equipment and small vehicles. Finally, CMRTs are used for foodstuffs of all types, and non-volatile liquids such as water, or, in one case, a truly vast amount of orange juice. Don't ask.

i think the original image looks better. the exhausts and autocannon just obscure the best parts of the ship. i think it would look better if the thrusters were moved back further so the engine sections can still be seen. i'm not sure about the autocannons. they could be depthed under the body or removed completely. i don't know why transports would have to be armed, as you said, they die easily, and in convoy they would probably be escorted
There is no OP, there is only more boosters...

Depthing would require added sections, which means more HP & mass use, so that's not going to happen. I am considering adjusting the thruster positions at least.

Also, to put it bluntly, I think that flat bit upfront is quite ugly.

The guns are there to dissuade any casual raiders, from an in-universe PoV - same reason the GTFr Triton, GTFr Poseidon and such are armed. One Caliga isn't going to pose much of a threat, but if the entire convoy can train their guns on you, they still have quite a bit of firepower between them, and that is usually enough to deter any raiders that might otherwise risk taking on the escorts.
