Random performance/fps drop.

When I first started playing BSF, I had an average 30-40 fps flow.

But things changed. I don't remember when or how it happened.

Now I get like below 10 fps on a clear 1000x1000 sandbox. :P

Is there a performance problem, or is it BSF?

Maybe you downloaded new stuff that makes performance drop

If you're on a laptop, plug it in. Having a laptop plugged in boosts its performance.

I use Razor Game booster to launch my BSF, helps quite a bit.

Go to your task manager and end any unneccesary tasks.

BSF is a processor heavy game. It doesn't use single sprites. Each section, weapon, projectile, and doodad is individually animated each frame. Even an empty field is demanding. A good way to increase performance is to free up processor activity by closing active programs. Setting the game to fast mode tells the game to use all available processor power to animate as many frames per second as it can muster.

By closing extra programs, my copy of BSF runs an empty 2048 x 2048 field in the sandbox from 57 FPS to 112 FPS.

LOL, even with the Booster, those FPS rates are more than i could dream of Zal!

I kill everything else with the task manager. I also have a graphics card with 2gb and functions as an extra processor (it was on sale).
Without optimization, those same conditions have an FPS of 40 to 50. A single ship (the neomachia) will drop it to 25 or so. Two of them drops it to 15. When they start shooting, it'll go down to 10 or less.
I'm sure many other users have better performance than this.

If only I could get my hands on the 2013 Dream Machine, oh my god, those 4.5 GHZ sound really useful. Plus 4-way Titan-SLI.

A workstation card? O.o

I think 4.5GHz and 4-way Titans might be a bit overkill for BSF... I mean, I get 920 - 990FPS on an empty 2048x2048 sandbox (BubbleShield Beta - which is why the font for the FPS counter is wrong) with an i7 4770 and GTX770.

(A single NagayaShip3 drops that down to 320FPS, two of them fighting drops to 110 - 180FPS)

OMMG

*gawks at beautifully huge fps rates*

2013 Dream Machine might get the ~900 FPS even with the ships fighting... :P

(Well, probably not, but it could be a fair bit closer)
