well not really, its not a contest with opening times or anything. feel free to make your own WFTU faction. Your a bit late for the coming battle but there are no timings at all for entering.

I think ill host tomorrows battle but if you wanna be a host go ahead!

Battle for Daike? And I got better idea about how to form fleets. Of course, first agreed upon what size of a fleets there will be, we then make encounter file. Once you have placed your fleet, then you post the encounter file here and your opponent places his fleet. Encounter file can be made available for everyone, and so we have multiple simulations - not just one host.

Excellent! I had completely forgotten about encounters. Nice going!

The test battle 'battle of Solouka' was based on the Novians getting to the 'Daike' system to steal the Mior partical cannon blueprint. So it makes sence that the next battle is for Daike, it's a shame to waste a good story line (and I think cryo quite enjoyed it LOL).

After my own brief tests of some of my ships vs some of the current WFTU factions, I see that the balancing is in some SERIOUS need of standardisation.... 1 Shiv can take on 3 mid sized ships from 1 faction but not take on the same size ship from another? >_< Whelp, spread-sheet anyone?

I will create a topic so users can create and post encounter tables. I think that the "Galactic Databank" is the right place for it. Each faction can have their encounters listen within a spoiler to save space. A link to that faction's entry in the ship design thread should be provided for easy access and download for testing.

I think it's a good idea.

Given the number of factions getting involved, it may worth considering dividing the LW/WTFU galaxy (because let's face it, it's not going to be an intergalactic war without tech being preposterous) into, say, quadrants. Each quadrant would contain 5~10 factions, and travel between them would be restricted by some kind of special warpgate or something.

Perhaps, although I don't think this will turn into any kind of metagame. I think that the loose balance standard we have is more realistic (I still use that term liberally), because the truth is that certain factions would indeed be far more advanced than others.
I.E. Mior has the strongest ships, but probably the smallest navy. ASDF is the polar opposite.

Of course, no faction should have insta-kill cannons or multiples of 50 for damage.

It's not about the metagame factor, it's about the fact everyone is trying to claim space on the same map that's already been split up between ~6-7 factions.

Oh the map issue. Roni had the idea of us each making a map of our own faction and then having arrows drawn to indicate neighboring maps. Then we can make a rough approximation of where each faction is located in comparison to eachother.

Then we could piece all the sectors together to form an overview with rules about jumping between sectors like you said :p
