BSF Freezing

I just reinstalled BSF after a few months away and started playing all excited to blast some trash. Now I have bumped into a strange problem. Every minute or so the game completely freezes and the music gets all choppy. After about thirty seconds it kicks in again but then a minute later it does it again.
I have had BSF installed on this comp before and never had this problem, any suggestions?
