Post by Portal8229 »

The game is running abnormally slowly, I usually get like 50+ fps but now its running slowly on the menu battle, I even lowered all the settings and its still terrible. If anyone knows whats going on please help!
Couldn't get the stupid avatar thingy to work so I just stuck myself in here.

It it safe to assume that you've done the general trouble-shooting stuff, like closing other programs and restarting your machine?

Do you have process explorer? If not, get it here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 96653.aspx

Run it. Load BSF. Switch back to Process Explorer. Expand it to full screen and take a screen shot while you have BSF running. You may have some processes running that shouldn't be, stuff that's eating up RAM or CPU time.

I've got much the same problem (didn't see a point to starting a new thread).
I'm getting 6 frames per second on the menu screen, dropping to 1 when there's an awful lot of stuff going on. Interestingly, with nothing on screen it happily sits at thirty, but drops to 14 just by having scrolling text show up on the campaign missions.
According to task manager cpu usage is around 80% and memory doesn't get much over 60%, so it shouldn't be maxing out.
I'm running it on my laptop with an intel core duo 1.86GHz, 2Gb of ram, geforce 7300 go, with all settings set to off.

I'm enjoying the game though, even if it is as a slide show :).

[Edit] It's definitely the engine not liking my computer. I tried a couple of the other games on this site and they run just as bad. Oh well.
