Ship Deployer Failure

Post by codenemisis »

Okay, I've searched all around for this and am always getting the invalid ship file error in-game.

___________________________________________
ERROR in
action number 1
of Other Event: User Defined 0
for object ShipDeployer:

Error in code at line 13:
obj.speed = l_special2

at position 14: Cannot assign to the variable

It's like I'm being raped with this error.

I've searched the forums a bunch of times, hell I've found numerous fixes for it, but none of them seem to work for me...
I've tried typing in the longpath (C:Programfiles/ararara), I've tried moving ships to the custom ships folder, I've tried moving them to folders I've made myself, I've tried keeping them in the BSF folder.
I've made sure that I don't load up the ship in SM so that it doesn't delete the path for the ship..
I've tried both .shp and .sb4.

What else is there for me to try, I keep trying to get a damned ship to deploy and it still doesn't work.

Any hints? Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Maybe my computer hates me? Any input would be appriciated, would like to get this problem solved ASAP.

Thanks for any help,
Code

From my experience this is caused by having a ship deployer activate while you are placing another ship.

It also seems to be non-fatal,so I could ignore it without incident.

It seems this isn't working for you,yet the error is identical to mine.

I guess I do not understand what you are saying?
Do you mean that I shouldn't be trying to place ships while deploying a ship?

Provided your error really does work the same as when I get it,yes, but it shouldn't really matter because it is non-fatal,just annoying.

Non-fatal? So if I click ignore the ship will spawn?

Again... The error appears to be exactly as mine... So I'm judging it as if it is...

So,yes, all I do is click ignore and there are no problems.

Well, I don't seem to be getting the same results. The ship fails to spawn at all.

Hold up... Did you actually type it as C:programfiles?

You should have a space in there.

No, I typed it in correctly, was just being lazy when I did that.

Thought:
Maybe I'm doing it wrong in the first place...
You get the ship deployer to spawn ships by going to custom stats -> set name in SM, right?

Do be aware I hear there are alot of problems with installing in program files,I always install highly modifiable or indie games straight to the C: folder.

I did hear word of that somewhere, I'll try that and see if it helps.

EDIT: Nope, still didn't work, I'll retry everything I did before thought since it is installed in C: though.

EDIT: Still didn't work.

Does it happen with all ships using the ship deployer?

Maybe it has something to do with the ship being deployed?

Try making a couple of test ships, both one section ships with one having the deployer set to spawn the other.
