BSF not working on Vista seems to be a random thing. If it doesn't work the first time, just do what we suggested in this topic. You shouldn't have much issue.

With xp, i just restarted and it worked. By the way, don't install xp on a separate partition if you have vista. It breaks Vista so it won't boot. XD

Do you know that from personal experience? I've heard of problems like this, but I've always heard that it was a problem with the partitioning program. Do you know/remember what partitioning program was used? I've heard that a program called GPartition absolutely wrecks computers (as in, I know three people who used it, and all of their computers are seriously screwed. One guy tried to dual-boot Vista and the Windows 7 Beta on his laptop; it's now impossible to boot to, or access anything on, the Vista partition. He lost everything he had on that computer--he can't get to any of it--but the files still exist and take up a bunch of hard drive space. And since he can't get to the files, he can't delete them, either. It really sucked for him.)

You do know that you can just add Vista to the boot list and get it working again in about 2 minutes or less, right?

You heard wrong. ;)

Run it in compatibility mode for Windows XP and it'll run fine.

Depends on how you install it. I always turn UAC off, and I'm not using compatibility mode. BSF runs fine for me. :P

However turning UAC off after instaling the game makes it go tabula rasa.
At least for me.

Turning off UAC makes your computer vulnerable to intrusions, though. That's why I prefer to run it without turning it off.

UAC is the most annoying piece of shit Microsoft has ever come up with. When I got Vista, it took me a week to figure out what was fucking with compatability, and as it turns out, it was the same thing that pestered me every goddamn time I tried to move a file. I dropped that shit so fast UAC didn't even know what hit it.

DO NOT TURN OFF UAC

It is important and actually useful. I know it sucks to get the same damn popup box constantly, but it's way better than having random programs running themselves on your computer without your knowledge.

If you want to run a program without all that hassle, just right-click Properties, go to Compatibility and tick "run as administrator". Problem solved.

I have software that monitors my processes without pissing me off as frequently as possible. I consider myself a power user. If I want to delete something, I don't want to submit my request in triplicate. I may be lazy, but running something as an administrator should not be required when I am logged onto a fucking administrator account. That's a waste of my time. I don't recall XP having anything even remotely similar to UAC, and I never had any problems with security.

I always think its hilarious when some petulant child whines about UAC and in doing so proves that they really have no idea what they're actually complaining about.

So I hear you like moving files around in system folders? Swell.

Petulant child? What the fuck are you on about? For whatever reason, Vista thought it would be neat to give me two Programs Files folders. One of them has a (x86) after it. Actually, it could have been Asus, as well, as I didn't feel the need to pay $100 extra to have the retailer give me a clean install without Asus's proprietary software. Long story short, I wanted to put things in "Program Files," and not "Program Files(x86)." Every time I would move something, Vista would bitch. I'd get everything where I wanted, open up the folder again, and discover Vista moved everything back for me. This goes for subfolders, too. Everything, anywhere, inside Program Files was under Vista's domain. It would randomly mark the entire thing read only, even after I repeatedly told it not to. It got to the point where I was about to take the damn thing back, and request they reload it with XP. Sure enough, turning off UAC solved every problem I was having, and it's worked perfectly since.

Unless you have some viable suggestion, preferably with a basis in fact, I urge you to let me do whatever the fuck with my computer. Program Files is not a system folder, and even if it were, I know enough about Windows to not fuck it up. I don't appreciate being referred to as a petulant child, and I don't appreciate people harping on me if they have no idea what they're talking about.

That'd be Asus giving you a computer with a really shitty configuration. I apologize for jumping on you like that.
