Nice rig. It could be any number of things dropping your frame rate, but one of the more common complaints with Vista is DX10. Try running the game with DX9 and see if that helps.
Side note: you're getting 350 frames/sec- don't worry about it. In a game like BSF, the human eye is not going to realistically be able to notice much if any difference between 350 FPS and 450 FPS.

There's a program called dxwnd which allows you to use older DirectX versions, as well as fix some other problems. It is often used for MapleStory (blegh), which apparently needs DX9, but can also be used for many other games.
Good luck!
EDIT: dxwin -> dxwnd, sorry for the misinformation

Are you sure you didn't mean 28 FPS? oO
Anyway DirectX redistributable for DirectX 9 need to be installed in Vista. There is download available from Microsoft.
I would not recommend using 3rd party utility such as dxwin. The reason Vista doesn't run older game is solely because DirectX 9 is not installed by default. Just install the official DirectX9 re-distributable package and any game will then work.

Holy crap, I need to reformat my pc... I've got new hardware, but I just plugged my (four year) old HD into it XD I'm fairly sure that it's horribly under performing... now if only I could find my operating system disk...

FPS stands for framerate per second. A regular monitor can display 60 frames per second... TV operates at 25-30 frames per second.X-14 wrote:No 2800FPS.AnnihilatorX wrote:Are you sure you didn't mean 28 FPS? oO

Playing Quake with top of the range hardware can output about 400 frames per second, but that's only internal and when the information reach your monitor it discards the extra frames..
Battleship forever is capped at 30 FPS limit.
