v0.90a Bug Report Thread

Post by Kaelis »

This thread is for reporting bugs with the newest ( 0.90a ) release.

Remember that when posting bugs, you have to include as much info as possible. Error messages, circumstances, reproduction steps, common parameters, settings, your system info, etc. If a bug is specific to a certain ship or can be demonstrated with one, include .sb4 and .shp . If a ship uses custom sprites, remember to include these, too.

If there is a bug that was present in the previous version and still persists in this one, you may repost it.

If you are reporting a new bug, you are allowed to double (and more, if necessary) post. Actually, its even better if you do.

Known bugs:

- Keyboard arrows in shipmaker sometimes stop responding ( need more info )
- Performance problems in sandbox mode on certain systems when surfaces are enabled
- Drag and drop sprite import in ShipMaker does not function properly on certain systems, seems to be mainly Vista-specific bug (unfortunately, theres no way we can fix it)

Just FYI, when I see this, running the program as an administrator fixes it. Hope that helps.

1: After I quit BSF, it sometimes brings up one of those "the programme has stopped working" boxes...

2: I decided to playtest the "Pendulum" custom ship that was bundled with the game and it works fine, right down the the ship's weapon also animating in the side-bar when you have it selected, except that, whilst the weapon blinks darker on the ship display and weapon display when it gets damged, it doesn't do the same on the ship itself (it remains the normal, undamaged colour)...

Build some stuff, hide some stuff, and then mirror. You will no longer be able to unhide stuff. There seems to be some trouble with some of the triggers yet, but I've not been able to pin it down yet. I'll let you know.

Amendum: The trigger issues are just me being dumb, please disregard.

Alpha settings don't mirror in SM at all.

Triggers also fail to mirror.

Okay, maybe not all my problems were me being dumb. Maybe they were, I can't tell yet. Prelim: if you have enough interlinking between triggers, they stop working. I'll try to confirm and reproduce this in a simpler form in the morning.

I've tested both comma and period triggers, and while they both return an error, it is non fatal and they work perfectly otherwise. IDK, annoying, but at least they work.

Code: Select all

of Key Press Event for <any> Key
for object ctr_Turrets:

Error in code at line 14:
     if tr_toggle && tr_ontype == 2 then

at position 20: Unknown variable tr_ontype

Loading up ships that have moving sections into the sandbox and they don't move.

Rotating sections rotate fine.

I can't seem to locate the reason why they won't move. Triggers are not used.

Yeah, hide/unhide can break even if you don't mirror. again, can't isolate a specific cause, it cropped up without me noticing immediately.

Something new, this time my fault; HVR targeting behaviour is kinda cranky now, but it seems to be relatively fine.

The major thing that sticks out to me is that they seem to be firing at half their normal speed. When force-fired, they fire as normal. Could be a target acquisition problem? Will look into it.

Ed: Update; unguided HVRs are firing at full speed. I'm wondering if it's a target acquisition thing.

Spawning a ship in Leviathan appears to break .sb4s spawned in it.
Once you have spawned attempted to spawn a ship into leviathan, it no longer works anywhere.
edit: It appears that you can resave the .shp however, which fixes the problem. So... less of a priority (although leviathan being unusable is unfortunate)

- Keyboard arrows in shipmaker sometimes stop responding ( need more info )
Appears to me to be related to forgetting to press return when editing variables, then performing certain actions. The program seems to not be sure if it's still editing or not. Clicking on a field and pressing return seems to clear it.
