R and E can be used on Doodads and Sections just as well as weapons and modules. Look at Lightstriker's guide in the custom ships forum.

I got an error loading the new shipmaker.

FATAL ERROR in
action number 1
of Other Event: Game Start
for object obj_sidebar:

bfdefault.ini not found, please reinstall the game

How can I get around this?

EDIT: nvm, i forgot to extract the files. Excuse me whilst I find a desk to bash my head on.

1: No, you do not have to get rid of the old shipmaker. Just download the new one and put it in your BSF folder. They can both reside there happily.

You can also extract it to another folder and copy and paste the .ini's to the folder.

Umm... I loaded the new shipmaker... where are all these new sprites? I still only have the basic ones... what do I have to do to make it all work?

Copy a code string from a section. Change "spr_section##" to "spr_whateveritislistedasinthelist". Done.

How do you pull up the Code String of a section, exactly?

use the hotkeys E and R. one loads the string, the other pastes it back in.

uhm, hey i'm back for first.

And, i've got a question:
I start building with the sprites that are from the game not shipmaker. Example:
