Ah, those are peripheral awesomizers. :P

They started their life as an attempt to do a Hestia Alpha, but the ablative armor kinda... failed. But I left those cuz I thought it looked better with the elongated nosewings.

to the original topic: when that guy is done with the model and put a texture
on it could you ask him about making it public?
because i would love to adapt that to be put in a game like X3 or ST:bc :P.

Hi chaps. I popped in to say hi. But first

1) Three pages, I'm impressed
2) I know nothing about battleships forever so you'll have excuse the artistic liscencing there
3) I read the post that asked if I was going to release the model.

Yes. If it's wanted I will release the model, but I need to do/ask a couple of things first, so

I've had a check on the board a couple of times, first off, cheers chaps, the C&C actually Helped (which, doesn't happen very often, it's normally an opinionated response) so thanks for that.

Second off. I've looked at the images you've made. 'Mr_Wizard' in particular, the cockpit looks so much better than mine design wise, that gattling cannon is in a much better place as well. (I have no idea what 'Lizzie's' is but, very nice)

Now. I read the request about releasing the model. I need to ask questions first.

First off, this is the big one. What/where does this get used in/for? (ie other games, things like that)
What object format do you need (like .x, .cob)

Second off. What's the best way for me protect the model I've made from somebody claiming it's theirs, I'll attach a read me to the model anyway but can I honestly do a 'gentleman's' agreement whereby you're free to edit it, use it and patch it into games, but you need to say that the original model was done by me.

Finally. I'd be happy to do other ships if this works out. But, I need to texture, and make changes to this one first

@weevil
I know just what you need in respects to the licensing of the model.
you need the GNU General Public license, to quote the site;
The GNU General Public License is a free, copyleft license for software and other kinds of works.
heres their site http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html :)

as to the format, there are several format's i've found to be most widely used.
.obj is one, also .3ds and .lwo, also some other's i can't remember.
but any of them will work :p.

and the question about what it would be used in;
i would probably put it in a game like X3 (http://www.egosoft.com/games/x3/info_en.php),
or Sins of a Solar Empire (http://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/)

EDIT: I've decided to put it in SoaSE

Right. That's a fantastic find, I'll look into that.

But...as for games. I don't think it's poly-efficient enough, I hadn't banked on release requests.

I have textured it though, I'm not entirely satisfied with it. It's the best I can do for now. I need to get better at this sort of stuff

If/when I release it, I'll put it as these file types

.cob
.3ds
.x
.obj

your welcome :).

Wow, nice job!

as for poly-efficient, some of the models that come with SoaSE have upwards of 30,000 polys ;).

^Yeah, forgot about that, neons are hard to do with bog standard textures.

Alright, due to the fact that I'm lazy at the moment, here's the UNtextured object. This is to test that it works.

This by the way has near enough to 8000 ploys, so we're fine on that count

Gah! Garn!

That's going to annoy me quickly, I'm going to have to put more polys on it to sort it out

Alright. I've triangulated the faces that need it (or hit the triangulate button) and hoped for the best

it's just .3ds and .x this time around

I hate triangulation, it makes the model really hard to edit
