Heavy Hit
How hard does a hit have to be to temporarily disable a ship? Is it a percentage of the total hp of all sections? Amount of sections? If you had two sections on a ship, one with 5000 hp and one with 50 hp, if the 50 hp one fell off would it disable the ship? What about the other one? This may have been already asked but the search doesn't give me anything.

... Yes you can. Once a ship loses enough hp / modules / sections (the amount is my question) it gets a frosch gun effect, without a frosch gun actually hitting it.Commodore111 wrote:you can't disable a ship without useing a frosch gun! hes asking how can you disable a ship by hitting it hard. But you can. If you manage to knock off enough sections ships will go into hull shock where they are for all intents and purposes disabled, basically sent drifting and unable to do anything for a short amount of time.Commodore111 wrote:you can't disable a ship without useing a frosch gun! hes asking how can you disable a ship by hitting it hard. Arona is right. I think it has to do with knocking a certain percentage of pieces off at once
so if the ship has say 20 pieces and 5 get blown off it might be enough to cause the hull shock. this would mean on a 100 piece ship you need to knock 20 off at once.
I don't know about the exact numbers though.

It also has somehtign to do with doign it consecutively, if you knock off 20 pieces on after another with a lucky-niner it will also go into hull shock.Tsakara wrote:Arona is right. I think it has to do with knocking a certain percentage of pieces off at once

So if you had a ship with only 1 really-high HP section and you hit it with a really high-damage weapon, it would send the ship into shock?

I think it should. Patrol craft are to rely on their speed and maneuverability to stay out of arcs of fire or to dodge projectiles. I don't know about beams though.Water_and_Wind wrote:Ships with only two sections really shouldn't go into hull shock when one of their sections is destroyed. It would make patrol craft more useful.

Well, look at it this way. When a battleship, say a Peitho, loses a forward shield... it's just a forward shield. Rip an "arm" off a Proteus and it's looking pretty beat up.Water_and_Wind wrote:Ships with only two sections really shouldn't go into hull shock when one of their sections is destroyed.
