File Hosting (Other than the ship Database)

Post by TheBlueEcho »

1. I thougt it might be helpful for people to know of good hosts to upload there ships to.
2. Cause I know nothing about filehosting. So please fill me in.
3. I'm not sure but I think the database is down, right? or did it get fixed?

Try MediaFire. INCREDIBLY user-friendly.

Personally I like www.filefront.com, I don't think it turns into an ad once you start download.

Just incase you're not one of the mediafire using master race.
Don’t worry it has airbags.

Well whats wrong with mediafire? does it want to spam you or something when you use it?

:-p

No, that was jsut a jab at Master Chief since he keep pushing it like mad. Filefront works just fine, I don't understand why it would matter if you use filefront or mediafire.

Mediafire has some pop-ups and sometimes changes to an ad after you start your download. Atleast for me, Filefront has a Flash based ad. I prefer the flash ad as opposed to a seperate pop up or having the site completely redirect me.

As long as its not rapidshare.

Savefile: http://www.savefile.com also do the job well. It has relatively less ads and also user-friendly.

Ahh...
Thats what I was looking for.

ok, so we got:
Mediafire
Cons: Pop-ups and Ad redirect during download

Filefront
Cons: Flash-based Ad, redirect ad once in a while

Savefile
Cons: ?

And people should avoid:
Rapidshare
Reason: ?

Get a geocities.

www.geocities.com

You'll never need a file-hosting site every again for anything smaller than 1MB.

It sounds too good to be true, but BOXstr seems to be legit. It has hotlinking, 5gbs of space and 800 mb/month bandwidth :D.

Free hosting but no hotlinking, but it does let you link to the download page.
I put my scaffold ship there.

If you're really, really cool you can embed it in a picture and host it on imageshack.
