Dieterling Device Suggestion

Post by antisocialmunky »

Th15, Can you create a field for Dieterling devices called 'Dieterling AI Range' that basically is a seperate AI for Dieterlings so they don't act so stupid? So we can have ships that close in and then teleport far away to safety.
Don’t worry it has airbags.

Basically, I'm saying to make a seperate AI for dieterling ships so that the ship can jump away instead of jump closer. I guess it would be the same thing.

So like if the ship gets to a certain distance to the target, jump back as far as possible?

Well, more like, the regular AI tries to move to AI range while the device will teleport to the range that's set in its range field.

Also, because the AI manuevers the ship and activates the device independently instead of taking into account the effects each would have on each other.

A ship trying to move into 700 AI range, for example, would accelerate towards the target and simultaneously make a large jump toward the target. The momentum is kept, and the ship drifts far closer than intended (or away, or totally off course in other cases) which results in it either getting ripped apart or having its weapons (for some ships) unable to bear onto the target.

The AI uses the dieterling at every single goddamn oppurtunity, instead of waiting for the moment it would best be used. It would be great if an AI controlled ship can coordinate its movements to exploit its available deiterling ability, as well as reserve it for getting into position or for escaping instead of wasting it for no good reason and warping 3 pixels from its original position.
