Problem is, those deflectors will shut down after a while, and not all at once. That just doesn't have the feel of a real shield bubble. Gravitic impeders come closest.

Use aegis and impeders?

I never use aegis, only on strategic or weaker points of my ships. I think I'm gonna go with impeders. Thanks, everyone.

How would you use Impeders as a shield? Don't they just slow projectiles down?

They don't work that well, they tend to latch onto the same projectiles. I think stupid amounts of flak do pretty good as a bubble shield of splosions.
Don’t worry it has airbags.

You can mod them so that they stop projectiles outright, or even cause them to bounce away harmlessly... it's really cool. I just wish they made projectiles explode though.

 How about a rapid fire point beam? It will work better once the point beam colour issue is fixed though.

Invisible Aegis work great; but they're really annoying to set up, and hard to make it "fair"

Been there, not all that shield-ish. More like... well... rapid fire point spam.

I think I'm gonna give the Angel of Merkabeh an impeder shield. Last thing I saw of was it being sliced in half, so it needs lots of improving.

About that. Is there any way to do the same against beams? And I don't mean placing invisible sections all around a ship. And I don't mean Rorsach.

Aside from invisible Aegis, or proper deflectoring, there is no way to be invulnerable to beams.
