WYRDYSM GAMES

I know many people have probably asked this before, but really.
What are the odds that Battleships Forever could reach atleast a decent amount of popularity?
And, if there's the slightest chance, how?
Advertising? Just telling your friends about it?
And, with the growing "free to play" genre on Steam, it could even be on it at one point.
I'd just love to see more people play other than the very small population of regulars on this forum, and despite the fact that I'm ridiculously young, I want to do anything to try and get that population up.

Well, it was quite popular for several years. An answer in several parts:

1)If and when Sean works on BSF2, that would certainly reenvigorate this community and quite possibly create a new one depending on how expansive the game is.

2)If new users come along. Well actually we get quite a few, but so many rush in, necro post, and get upset when we don't drool over the stock ships they made in five minutes without reading any tutorials.

3) If existing users start building again. Not likely. This is more because alot of us have gotten bored with the game than any of the other nails in the community coffin. I mean I love shipbuilder and will continue to use it. Heck I'm working on the death star right now. But it simply takes back seat to too many other things these days and I think thats true for most of us. There are still several people posting and even SWS did relatively recently but this by itself will only cause surges of popularity.

4)I for one would love to see some let's play videos or straight out battle videos. The ones released were pretty well done and popular, but games like minecraft get much of their popularity from youtube videos long after the basic game has grown boring.

So in short, keep playing BSF if you like it, keep posting if you keep playing, and keep telling your friends to do the same. If that happens I'm sure there will be at least a decent amount of people who continue to watch the forum. Beyond that though the game has met and been pushed beyond its limits half a dozen times so it really falls to the creator at this point. Hope that helps.

Even shorter version of it is that BSF is past its prime, and has been for a long time.
