I have made some old school Battleship turrets, and for 1 i made a special gun, to make it look a bit better.

So far i have only 3 turrets, but there may come more if you guys like them.


Turret 1&2 are inspired on US WWII triple 16" guns.
Turret 3 is inspired on the Bismarck's main guns.
Both use the gun sprite in the same folder as the turret sections.

Just extract to custom sprites folder.

To do list:
  • Create Point defence flak turret
  • Improve turret01 gun positions
  • Edit gun barrels

Turrets one and two need some work, they look too flat.

Barrel positions on #1 look rather low down, and the barrels themselves look kinda wimpy. Not bad though.

i know the barrels look a bit tiny, but the problem is, for the triple turrets, i think 6pxl wide gun looks to thick, and with 5 pxl it makes the section uneven. So i decided to go with 4 pxl width.

But of course, you are free to edit them if you want.

Its actually better for them to be uneven. Uneven - good rotation, bad flipping/mirroring, even - bad rotation, good flipping/mirroring. Obviously, for turrets rotation is more important that flipping/mirroring.

ok! thank you.. didnt know this.

Edit: i will make uneven hight, but 5 pxl barrel looks to fat. These may look flimsy, but the accent is on the entire turret. Not on the barrels. I will add a 5px variant for every turret though.

Firing animations; you're doing them wrong. Transparency in SM or BSF = ugly green areas.

Transparency? i thought i didn't add that o.O well... I'll just check again.
They worked like normal on my PC.

If you're using photoshop(Or another image editor) then the problem is, when you add another layer, that layer's background is transparent.

mmm as far as i know, i only have 4 layers for the animations. No transparent background layers..

Or do you have to set the background of the image to black in the basic settings?

Dump each layer's background black. Just because the base layer has a black background doesn't mean the others do.
