I wish to thank Hege for testing the coloring of the beams, some color well, but some don't, as well as detection errors, disappearing beams, or invisible beams which hit their target.

Greyscale beams are on the way, as well as versions which can be scaled (shockbeamers for example, or just a smaller version of the beam.)

Disappearing/invisible/etc. beam behaviour is something to do with surfaces, not much that can be done.

Actually I've done this - there's a spotlight running down the middle of the Tracheon (see "Parameciumkid's Fleet"), but in this case I used it as a weapon sprite.
