If someone wanted to make a missile from ship sections, they'd use Ship Deployer modules, spawning Kamikaze AI kinetic-kill missiles(or mines, or drones, or whatever thy want).

Except that those would home in, something bullets typically don't. And the shipdeployer can't be used to drive sections. And can't have bursts. And acceleration like the HV missile. And shipdeployer bullets will fly backwards. And they can't have splash damage.
So, in short, there's a myriad of reasons to use an image of a (set of) section(s) as a bullet sprite.

Yes, missiles are typically guided. But this may come as a shock to you: there ARE unguided missiles. And that's just limiting ourselves to missiles. That's not quite the same. After the first salvo, subsequent shots will slowly trickle out instead of firing of in bursts. Because all ships do. When I order a ship to fly to a position behind it, it'll start accelerating backwards, and then turn. It doesn't do a turn like, for example, a real-life missile. So unless I set the rotation speed really high, this will occur everytime the shipdeployer spawns a missile, and it targets something not straight ahead of it.Anna wrote:This doesn't even make sense. Yes, far more effective. But effectiveness isn't something that's always needed. Maybe I'll think up some weapon that emits gravity waves or whatever techtalk I desire, and does light damage over a light area. For example 1 damage to every section of a ship.
