LG's Wrecked sections

Post by LordGarcia »

I just don't want these to be left unatended. Renamed them to the new specs in the package. I just can't be assed to reupload every single sprite with the fixed name.

Get them

*edit: arc was so king to fix and reupload them. SM won't accept uppercase extentions (.png)

I suddenly really want to make a derelict-style warship.

These would be great for some sort of ghost ship.
Great work on those sections!

I really like the idea. I think we'll soon be seeing a few wrecked ships around here...

Like it!

They're really usefull as some kind of substructure, so when bits are blown of the damaged parts below show up. It would work best when they're used as a skeleton so they're sure to be the last part standing.

Yes! I'll finally be able to make a graveyard. And some encounters with damaged ships.

I actually made wrecked ships before. I think I want to wait for the buggy stuff to fix before doing stuff.

It mostly is. If you're going to be a twat and act like it isn't without trying it, suit yourself. Alternately you could be useful and tell us what these bugs are if you haven't already, and actually prove they exist.

I've got to say, I love these sections! The idea of making damaged/derelict ships has always been an appealing idea to me. One thing I will point out though is that your section pack lacks variety (I mean, not all sections break up the same way). But instead of complaining about it and asking for more, I've decided to pull my finger out and do something about it myself.

I've only made three so far, but I wanted to show them to you before I made anymore, to see whether I should bother spending any more time on this. I made these sections with the idea of emulating heavy damage on them (i.e. parts of a section torn/ripped off, alot of bare chassis showing, etc.) I think the second one needs a bit more work, but the rest looks alright to me.

So, what do you think?

well those already look alright.
Back then when I made these I simply thought about making some damage here, some holes there. I didn't really think about what hit it and that might be the cause for these all looking different. I considered making special damage sprites that you can put on xour normal sectons to simulate damae but i just didn't get to it yet.

i reckon someone should make a doodad with repeating flames/sparks/smoke that you can pin to the destroyed sections, to be gas emissions and electrical fires or whatever that might originate from the damaged areas..

if you want to be a space purist, i don't think there can be fire in space, so maybe just electrical and gas discharges...

Fire cannot burn in space, because it would have no oxygen. Zero-G fire, however, is extremely cool to watch.

Lithium and Flourine make fire.
Without oxygen.
Just saying :)
