Re: Trying Out the Ship Building Scene
What if I made it thicker instead of longer and got rid of/hid the missile launchers (thats what they were going to be anyway) and also spread out the front piece a bit?
(Trying not to scrap it because I believe there is potential.)

Better, but now you should spice up each of those large sections a bit. It looks very bland right now.

Much better. Undoubtedly it'll look better when you color it, as you should definitely make those stripes across the front a different color than the sections underneath.

Yeah, that's much better. The engines don't seem to flow properly with the hull though. They just look tacked on to the rear section.

I was thinking that too... It bothers me to no end. I am overcome with perfectionism, I must fix it.
@Doogie: I can't seem to find a good color scheme for my faction, any suggestions? (take out the lizard idea, I am changing it to a humanier appearance)
Re: Trying Out the Ship Building Scene
I would really like to someone to use that volcano color scheme I used a few times. It was unbelievably sexy and can be fitted to virtually any style.
(If you'd like I could also doodad that thing up for you, since that's by far my favorite part of shipmaking)

Of course! I apologize for not putting up the dl sooner! You must know though, although you can do anything you want to it, I will only use my version for my faction since, even as good as you are, it wouldn't be the same. It would feel like it wasn't my ship. But anything anyone wants to do to my ships, you are free to do. As long as original credit for my ship is given to me, you can do anything you want.
EDIT: I love that color scheme, I think that I will steal it!

Funny. That's my least favourite part.

Re: Trying Out the Ship Building Scene
Your building style is too restricted. You appear to be thinking about how each section will look on the final design as you build it. Don't think that way. Just try to get the general shape first, then refine it.
I used to do the same thing. Then I tried something new. The improvement was quite dramatic, starting with the latest HG ship revisions.
There's nothing wrong with working your way, but if perfectionism is a problem as it was for me, try the outside in method.

Wait, really? That's how you do it?Zalausai wrote:Your building style is too restricted. You appear to be thinking about how each section will look on the final design as you build it. Don't think that way. Just try to get the general shape first, then refine it.

I always let the ship build itself as the design unfolds. I usually have to work really hard in order to get it constrained to an end product. See: Miora Colonies.

Same here.
Unless I make an egg shaped ship.
