"Baby steps" Vakapad's first ships

First of all let me say hi and greetings to all who wander these forums. This is my first post, so I thik I should be introduceing myself. I am from Hungary, seventeen years old, and have an obsession with creating stuff. I have just recently discovered this masterpiece of a game, and instantly lost my har to it. In the first few days I had with it I created over a dozen ships, and am still amazed by the possibilities. But enough talking for now, let's get on with the ships!

As I saw no obvious "Introduce yourself" thread, i decided to start off with what have I done so far, so here it goes:
(btw. I love Halo's spaceships)

Longsword Interceptor

Relatively large singleship fielded by the UNSC, being an excellent fighter it is somewhat incompetent in engaging capital ships.

Shortsword Bomber

I know it is described as being atmospheric, but they need a bomber, don't they?

Mako class corvette

Designed to act as a patrol vessel, and support larger ships in battle, the Mako Class still can bring an impressive amount of firepower into the fray relative to its small size.

Paris class Heavy Frigate

The iconic frigate we all know and love, could be best described as it is in one of the books: A giant railgun, with engines strapped on the back. Because we all know Bigger is ALWAYS better.

Couldn't find class designation class destroyer.

Being only ten meters longer than a frigate, it has twice the armour and firepower, but it sacrifices manouverability.
(actually i have ballsed up the scale for this, sot it is one and half times longer than it should be)

Athens (credit to sins of the prophets at modDB) class carrier

The carriers lack the armour or heavy MAC cannons of a frigate, but they have a plethora of singeships instead, and with them they can effectively outrange any vessel in combat.

I was too lazy and didn't bother with removing the glow from any of the sections, but the designs should othervise be completly functional, and ballanced against each other. If anyone requests i'll upload the .shp and .sb4 files.

Are these Halo ships? Because I don't play Halo.

It's too dark to see anything plus if your going create ships using flat sections then i suggest you practice color combination or depthing

Meh, I don't think they're too bad. You got the shape good and the section work is fine. Some colour fixes need doing, but they're not bad. Take a look through some of Shamrocksoldier's ships, he made some cool Halo fanship.

Thanks! To be honest I didn't really bother with colouring, i have judt used the preset shades of black.

Also, if you've got enough skills to make a decent ship, you may want to join our DGW if you've got nothing else to do this coming holidays

Or he could improve his skills before he attempts to join what is intended to be the more exclusive part of BSF.
For the record, you should really post the images directly either with the forum attachment feature or copying the right code in.

Sorry about the images, as i have said, i am new to image posting. And for DGW, I already had an intention to join one day, but as Doogie said I still have much to learn. Nontheless, I thought I'd try myself at building with shiny, so here is what I've got:

Faithful


A cruiser sized vessel built with the single pourpouse of mounting a heavy beam weapon.

EDIT: I have lovered the seturation, hope it is somewhat better now.

Also I know orange and cyan are conflicting, but that was kinda the point. Blue armour with orange decals, high contrast.
By now I have a few more of these ships, and they don't look all that terrible. Though I have to admit, that this one has more orange than the others.

EDIT2: So here goes some of those similar ships. opinions are apreciated.

Grasshopper frigate

Actually classifying as a destroyer by size, this little ship is a jackof all trades with good speed and reasonable firepower.

Dragonfly Experimental Cruiser

Originally designed as a simple light cruiser, it was decided to be fitted with experimental pulse beam turrets. (Orange bits in the back come out, and have two more guns.)

Virtue Fleet support Carrier

This ship is tasked to repair allied ships, while providing fighter support.

Mercy Battlecarrier

A gigantic ship carriing within its three hangarbays a force capable of independently taking out battlegroups. On top of that it has a pretty formadible arsenal itself.

These are somewhat balanced against R0ni's ships(hope he is all right) Also sorry for the carrier being so friggin huge.I took the picture while zoomed in, and didn't bother resizing it

Not terrible by any means, but it could benefit from turning down the saturation.

It's already lovered, you should have seen the old one. Now that Looked weird.

...That still doesn't mean that it won't benefit from it being lowered even more. It still looks quite saturated.

I don't have much problem with the colour saturation as it is. What I do have problem is the clashing colours. Orange, cyan and red do not look good together.
Also, press home before screenshoting for default zoom plz.

Well i wanted to post some ships I have made, but Imageshack decided not to work, so it wil have to wait. Also if any of you could tell me what to do, if the atomated e-Mail doesn't arrive, i'd apriciate that.

Go with tinypic, it's better than imageshack IMO
