Elements of Discord

Post by Zalausai »

Spoiler!
This small fleet of ships is meant to oppose GATC's ships. I have taken the "Elements of Harmony" that the show praises and twisted them into something darker, more badass.
These are some of my finest ships so far.

Work in Progress

Zalausai, you edgy motherfucker.

That aside, the two you've made are pretty good. Might want to work out the kinks in the Mourning's arms and possibly add some kind of jeb-end to the Cruelty, but it's otherwise fine.

I think the 'Cruelty' needs something added to it to make it more shapely, ATM it's a bit of a stick.

Thanks for the feedback.
I will be able to refine them all once I finish the seventh one.

Avarice is completed, but I won't be able to upload it until I get internet back at home on wednesday or thursday.

Mourning's arm "kinks" (if you are referring to the bumps on the "elbows") are simply the sprite. A different sprite would fix that. It is inspired by a black wedding veil that a widow wears. Each "arm" is articulated and drags behind the ship as it moves, so care in choosing another sprite will need to be considered.

Cruelty is inspired by a rusted engine block. It is the first one for this group that I made. Since the counterpart is based on a colorful children's cartoon, I had to choose something that is intended for adults and only adults. P0rn aside, the next best thing is huge hulking machinery. I have no idea on how to refine this one even though critique has been given. The best I can think of is make the front a little longer and bring it to a point.

Although the counterpart is MLP, great care was chosen to find the most opposing word or idea for each character and assigning a style to it. I'm glad that it seems to have paid off.
I actually had to watch the show to learn these things.

The force that leads to the creation of the "Elements of Harmony" in MLP is Friendship. To make a counterpart, I have a few words to choose from. They are Vendetta, Enmity, and Strife. I am leaning towards Enmity, but am open to suggestions. If it is not on the list, it should be at least two syllables and should be intimidating or evil sounding.
GATC's ponies should shit themselves when their sensors report that "Flagship name here has been detected".

I don't know wether you would want to use it for your main ship name but 'Requiem' is acctualy a Roman festival of the dead - kinda evil.

I already plan on using Requiem for the FS 06. I'm not really fond of reusing the same name twice.
It also isn't a counterpart to the word friendship. However, it is badass on its own.

Hm...I don't think this has been mentioned, but the two horn-like protrusions on the back of the "Cruelty" look awkward, especially since all the other sprites are integrated cleanly. Are they maneuvering thrusters, perhaps? Personally, I really like the design of the "Mourning" ship. However, I would recommend lightening the color of the middle thruster slightly. It seems too dark.

I will consider lightening Mourning's Center thruster. The revision may already have that done if I remember correctly. (All images will be updated when all ships are completed before the release).
I don't want to screw this up.

As for Cruelty, those are indeed small maneuvering thrusters. There are four in all. The other two are inset into the rear of the ship nearby (at right angles). I will inset them as well and see which looks better to me.

New things have arrived.

First, the arms on EoD Mourning have been revised.
SMscreen013.png
Second, the EoD Treachery has arrived, with its very unstable shapeshifting background description.
It's creepier than I planned.
Image

Third, EoD Avarice had arrived. Each of its eight arms are articulated in three points and sport twin cutting lasers.
SMscreen012.png
Lastly, EoD Deceit has arrived. It will have an alternate version with alot of the section alphas set to 0 to mimic a combat cloaking system that reduced its apparent size.

Treachery hurts my brain!
