They look like normal humans except for a tail about three to four feet long. It ends in a tuft of hair which is the same color that is on the head. A thin layer of hair grows on it as well so it appears slightly lighter than the normal hair colors. Common hair colors are blonde, brown, black,. Rarer colors include red and blue.

Bump, since it's been over a week and the ships have been updated.

Added: New Particle Gun sprite to all ships
Changed HG 4's Armament
Added Jump Gates
Added HG Holy Icicle

All changes are present in the "Current version" download, the old one has been left behind in case a recovery is needed.

/\ Jump gates. Now there's a good idea (although i have no idea what they would be used for).

They can be used to travel light year distances in an instant. The number of light years traveled is based on the jump gate's power. (Bigger and better jump gates are already available, I just have to add them to the database.)

Without a jump gate
(A ship can travel a number of light years at warp equal to it's speed in a week).
Ex: A ship with a speed of 2 can travel 2 light years in a week).
This idea seems fair in cases of the time it takes for a ship to travel.

If a jump gate is destroyed, damaged, or disabled while a ship is coming through, it will be cut in half. Half will be at the destination and the other half will be back at home.
This technology folds space and time between the two points until the distance equals zero. I think it fits well within the Heaven's Grace theme of increased speed.

The jump gates themselves (the small gates in this database) are available for deployment within allied or friendly factions to boost commercial trade routes, however they cannot be reverse engineered. The technology is available for trade with friendly or allied factions for military use, however.

Warning: Under no circumstances are you to attach a jump gate within a ship to make it go faster. (See the movie "Event Horizon").

I guess it is. . .
How's this?

It lets you travel long distances in an instant, otherwise it would take much longer.

The ship being split in half is still a good idea for a critical system failure.

I was thinking about more practical uses such as:

In battle scenarios fleets can normally only jump one system at a time, but with a jump-gate they could jump say 2 systems per turn.

Sure, why not, but it should given a maximum size capacity. The ship has to physically be able to go through it after all.
A big battleship shouldn't be able to go through a gate half its size at least.
