Re: Sensei ships
That's it! I was thinking that the shape reminded me of a stock ship, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

Re: Sensei ships
This latest one appears as though it has triggers to change shape (like my latest ones do) and has opened up. Judging from the exposed parts in the wings. The variations in colors are nice. I do wonder why there appears to be magenta teamstripes on it though.

That's that engine glow doodad. I added it into the smsprites.ini for easy access. Most glow effects require two of them. One smaller one in white, and a larger one in whatever colour you want. Both should be set for additive blending, naturally.

Re: Sensei ships
I actually use only one white glowball section, and use coloured fake aegis (low alpha, high spread and alpha blur) on it for the engine glows.

Re: Sensei ships
That's not actually something you can do if you make them doodads, though, because doodads can't have fake aegis. And I don't like having engine glows as sections, because that's just weird.

... Aren't those glowballs set as .png, and thus incapable of being used as doodads?
Re: Sensei ships
Why not Anna? it helps us depth the engines.

Re: Sensei ships
I attach the thruster moduals to them. It's like any shots that hit the flares are disintegrated but when it's destroyed the whole engine goes (Im probably being a bit vague).

Re: Sensei ships
No. You add them as doodads to the .ini, and they can be used as doodads. I literally use them as doodads on all my fuckin' ships, I think I know what I'm talking about.calvin1211 wrote:... Aren't those glowballs set as .png, and thus incapable of being used as doodads?
So does a smaller section beneath the actual thruster sprite, and then you don't get the sillyness that results from having engine flares that can somehow explode.CryoSleep wrote:Why not Anna? it helps us depth the engines.
But to each their own, I guess.
Back to the topic itself, I really like your latest ship, Doogie. Definitely looks like a suped-up Cronus.

OK, I didn't know you could do that.Anna wrote:No. You add them as doodads to the .ini, and they can be used as doodads. Re: Sensei ships
I use them as sections because when they're destroyed its as of it just got damaged. Also, those specific balls are DDC flares, not fraxy. If that even matters.

It's a triangle!
Once again, unarmed.
It's also the most frustrating ship I've ever built. It absolutely refused to allow me to add more to it, so I settled with its smaller shape.Once again, unarmed.

It actually appears to have two triangles. Since you favor triangles as primary shapes, why not do a ship that is a giant triangle, but has more smaller triangles within it. (Example: The tri-force from Nintendo's Zelda series).Doogie12 wrote:It's also the most frustrating ship I've ever built.
