War for the universe - Ratai armada.

Let's face it, the main attraction of BSF is building your own ships. Share them! If you need help, check the Shipmaker Info & Help forum a little ways down.

It should not be any faster than normal Orentis... (o. o )
And I use same custom spirites as Calvin does with his SAR faction. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6885

I have noticed that some of my age old ship designs such as Guardian, White star and stormbringer are bit outdated and underpowered compared to other faction ships, so I am thinking about - tutudutuuu once again redoing the Ratai fleet a bit. The oldest of ships will go through the heaviest of reconstruct - and even the newer ones will get some cosmetic changes.

I am first editing the two cruisers of mine, Guardian and Stormbringer which are among the oldest designs. I am experimenting new styles as appears here and also increasing the strenght of these ships some to actually into CRUISER levels from their current ~average Destroyer of other factions level.

I am not putting these into download till I am done with the current battle thing I have going on with Novians - and I actually have enough ships to make update worth it.

Here we have Guardian heavy cruiser remade. It has recieved the biggest buff since it is supposed to he toughest combatant of Ratai fleet, leave out some very nasty battlecarrier. Previously it was not much more powerful that mineret destroyer.
Guardian X
Guardian X
So what has changed?
-It is now 164 meters in lenght compared to its previous 108.
-The health has been decreased to 600, but the additional protection comes from layered armour plating.
-The medium autocannons on sides have been switched to heavy autocannons and the weapon points have been moved closer to hull under protection of the plating. Previously it was way too easy to disarm this ship's secondary weaponry.
-The front section of the ship now has Heavy chain gun, which remains under plating until ship has target. Once the ship has locked on target, the plating moves aside and gun is revealed. It fires rapidly 10 shots that do 25 damage each and then reloads 120 frames, or 4 seconds if FPS is 30. It is the main armament of the cruiser.
Ship also has already familiar missile batteries, now moved to the arms. both fire 2 missiles with 25% interceptability chance. Each missile delivers 50 damage.
-The ship's point defence weaponry and targeting behaviour has been chanced some. On both sides of the hull, between the plating there are 3 rapid firing micro cannons, each having 10 shots in a clip. the guns target differently, between distance of 300 to 500 and hopefully this enables the ship to actually intercept threats coming from multiple sides at once, instead of wasting massive salvo to few closest incoming missiles.
-Im testing green window colors this time. Also added blue stripes to the hull to indicate what part of Ratai fleet the ship belongs to. This is core fleet. Red is Guardian fleet.
-Im also planning to place critical object into the reactor on the back, causing enormous explosion if destroyed.
-This ship is intented to be powerful, but still no match for Mioran vessels of same class.

Now, you think this is better style? Should I change something? Any suggestions, critique?

Very nice, it has a much sleeker design than its predecessor but still has the shape. although I prefer the blue windows to those green ones.

Anyway I'm a still waiting on your turn in our battle.

I like it, but it doesn't fit into the ratai style too well. Try coloring it gold and make it part of the Arime project.
