My (somewhat) crappy ships

Let's face it, the main attraction of BSF is building your own ships. Share them! If you need help, check the Shipmaker Info & Help forum a little ways down.

Thanks, but what exactly is 'nice' in here? Looks good? Good structure?

Oh, yes. A cactus. But what the hell am I supposed to use for the needles?
*thinks of weird, green ships that pierce their enemies with spikes*

How about green very short range beamers on a force-fire system.

Oh wow you are a genius. I don't think many people would think of that. How about making them with fusion beams? Their laser sprite looks pretty good for needles.
Quite frankly I wonder why I ever began making ships for this. You see, my work never becomes quite as good as I feel it deserves to.

Say what? Fusion beams? You mean those loud things that burn through everything? Hmmm... They do look good...

Alright, I'm still working on that cactus ship idea (mainly with those silly beams) but here's something to burn down (or get burned down by) in the meantime.

The gatblaster has longer range, a larger clip and more accuracy at the cost of damage and fire rate.
Megabeams are slightly more accurate.
Machineguns have longer range and... something else I think (figure that out yourselves)
Pulse guns are a bit OP for their size, as their accuracy and projectile speed have been improved
Oh, there's a mining beam, I'd almost forgotten it. Not much there except the 360 degree arc.

I've named most turrets (except the machineguns)
Gatblaster = Sandblaster
Megabeam = Sunray Laser
Pulse gun = Sandpelleter (very cheesy name, might change it)

I'm not happy about the front of the ship, it needs work.
What I am happy about is that shading.

Hope you like it!

Looking good! I like that engine doodad effect, maybe add some more doodads around the front to lighten it up a bit.

That is good!
The color of the weapons really fits the ship.

Hmm.. Didn't think of doodads (I'm usually too lazy for those) but I'll try that. What colours should they have? Bright or something that fits with the rest?

Oh well, I can change that later. Here's the new version (not going to add files until I know if it's done)
Added a bit to the nose and a second snesor array at the back. I intend to somehow get them at the front.

I think I know what you were missing on the front end: it wasn't looking 'done'.

I really like that shading, care to tell me what colours you used (you can make a .txt if you want)

Oh, and a download would be nice to test its playability :3
