The War for the Universe

Let's face it, the main attraction of BSF is building your own ships. Share them! If you need help, check the Shipmaker Info & Help forum a little ways down.

Meanwhile, PACIV will launch their ships in the hope of halting the advance of GORE into the Delphinus Sector.
Hopefully with space rectangles instead of space triangles.
Or maybe Space polygons.

First PACIV ship -
The Ohm

Designed to be almost on par with the Paimon, the Ohm sports Dual Accumulator cannons and a Thor Beam.
(Thor beam is slightly weaker than Superheavy violet. Yes, it is a tesla.)

Top is a Ohm Refit, capable of entirely deflecting anything weaker than a chicken. (19 health - should it be weaker still?)

A standard Ohm can kill a paimon, but two on two the outcome is sketchier, and as the numbers increase, the Ohm's group performance drops.

An Ohm refit can withstand small concentrations of red/yellow lasers, and the Thor Beam is less powerful.

I also have a small glitch where the shield is capable of withstanding torps with 50 damage. Help?

OHM

Destroyer Class
2x Heavy Red Accumulator Cannon
1x Thor Beam

As I have said, small problems with the refit.
I'll release it when I fix the problem. Might be a while.

Explosive weapons cause damage not by direct impact, but by the strength of the explosion at the centre of the sprite. As the shield sprite is very large the explosion radius does not reach the centre and therefore doesn't cause any damage.

Looks like I'd better find my old BSF folder, this looks pretty interesting.

Ok, I'll try to fix that. somehow.
Maybe using actual hexagons?
IDK.

EDIT:

Fixed!
I made it into 4 parts. It is destroyed by the missiles now, without being totally destroyed.

I think I'll try to keep PACIV ships mostly defensive with (possibly more awesome) slightly weaker weapons to account for the more powerful defense.

OHM

DC01R OHM
2x Small Red Accumulator Laser
1x Reduced Power Thor Beam
4x Directional Shields

I now want to disown this ship...

EDITEDIT:
If I have a ship with an all-over large, powerful shield but astonishingly low health, will that upset anything too much?
The shield can explode slow-moving torpedoes, which explode harmlessly, but absorbs all other fire, and will overload if a heavy/superheavy indigo hits it.

Commonwealth of Independent Traders

A giant economic organisation that could almost be considered a civilisation in it's own right, the CIT is not strictly a political body, but still uses it's size to hold sway over many of the systems it trades with. Recent expansion into the realms of more powerful forces however have been strongly opposed, and so the CIT has been rapidly up sizing it's military arm to pursue a more aggressive marketing technique.

CIT ships are designed to operate in interstellar space for long periods of time in order to escort the large trading hulks and as a result tend to make up for a lack of armour with the good handling characteristics provided by hybrid ion engines. The recent models have been built with much expense (any many say little thought) to use experimental violet lasers and beam weapons, despite the dubious combat effectiveness of these technologies.

CMV-CL1 Synergy Class
Image
The new ships of the line for the CIT fleet, the synergy class light cruiser plays a balanced role between a general purpose and fast strike vessel. The Synergy lacks the heavy armour of a cruiser class vessel and tends to struggle against larger enemy vessels, but performs well against lighter ships.
2x Snub Superheavy Laser (fixed hull mounting)
2x Dual Medium Laser
10x Light Laser
1x Heavy Beam
2x Beam
2x Saturation Missile Pod

Note: the heavy beam uses the following general stats: 0.1, 200, 2, 40, 0.25, 75, 10, 2

You sure?
I'm trying to balance my ships to an extent.
I'm basically picking a GORE ship, pitting it against other GORE ships, and getting my ship to replicate the result, with a sketchy outcome between mine that the chosen ship.

Keep in mind that GORE's 'role' is 'lots of firepower, lots of toughness, hardly any speed'. They were loosely balanced vs the ASDF/Kebb, and I'm a poor judge of balance.

Still, I wouldn't advise deviating too much from the core concept of 'ships with lasers'. Missiles, beams, and other features should probably be restricted to experimental or otherwise exceptional vessels.

Sorry guys ive been busy, havent made new WHITE ships but balenced the old.

Messege sent to the honorable Admiral of the PASIV forces from the esteemed and highly decorated( ;) ) Elron Kartensin First Admiral to Emperor Tolmney III.

Admiral, I have the greatest desire that this message finds you in good health, spirits and in a position to accept this most generous gift endowed to your people by my Lord Emporer. This gift being an aliance between us as we inbark on a mission to eradicate these Radical Gore, who so savagly trespass their domain to spread their lies. My Lord Emporer has been informed of Gores trespasses against you and in his abounding graciosness extends this offer of our peaceful intent towards your people. Please respond in a private post as to keep prying ears and eyes in their respective places. My Lord Emperor has allowed me to offer an exchange of secret technoligies in our development, discussion as to types and quantities may be ironed out at a later date.
Long life to you and to my Lord Emperor

Oh stop spouting rubbish. :|

1) It's 'GORE', an acronym (pronounced as the word) for 'Gloriously Orange Republic of Eden'.
2) I fail to see how the Republic of Eden could be trespassing against entities that don't even exist since you haven't written anything else about them. Taking HM's map as 'canon', the only factions they presently face are the ASDF/ASA, Kebb, and possibly the SAR. The Mioran Colonies are several jumps out, the TSE is on the far side of the SAR, and the entire Delpinius Sector is uninhabited thusfar.
3) Picking on the pseudo-religious guys is really, really stupid. What they lack in experience they make up for in numbers and enthusiasm.

Gee, fine.
I'll write some rubbish about my peoples then.

PACIV
Spoiler!
The PACIV empire was originally 4 seperate empires, those of Peic, Ceaphacos, Vaero and Adaeckin. These 4 empires were constantly at war with each other for a good 2 centuries. The members of the Idotus system were aware of this conflict, but stayed outside of it.
Then, a small GORE fleet was detected close to the systems. The Idotus Collective chose this moment to enlighten the other 4 Empires of the larger threat.
Immediately, the engineers began drawing up more advanced plans than any that had gone before them. The Shipyards began modifying themselves to build larger and more powerful ships. The weapons and defence manufacturers began to create more powerful systems.
The PACIV empire was formed.
The initial GORE fleet was driven back, with few losses, by a massive but weak force, previously owned separately by each of the 4 systems.
PACIV specialises in defences, the most powerful of which is capable of shrugging off an indigo blast.

In regards to the Laser Wars spreadsheet,
Call me clueless, but what does "DPV" mean?
Also, I see Calvin put his ships in there, yet I am not seeing how to do the same.

I'm balancing the Mioran ships now, with a download coming.

Damage per volley, it is how much damage a weapon puts out per "clip" of fired shots.

I put them there, because he had a nice lineup with all the stats neatly set out and easy to input. Most other factions are still getting their act together. :P
