So, over the last few hours, I've been kind of experimenting with triggers, and I'm starting to get the hang of it. I have managed transformations and have figured out how to make transformations turn on certain weapons, but not how to make them turn off. any help would be appreciated.

After^
About midway through the war of first encounters, the UNGW captured and reverse engineered Ts'ari directed energy weapons. Using a retired light cruiser model as a mounting platform and heat sink, they were able to create the first human Beam Cruiser, the Icarus. Since the ship is really just a Cannon with engines, the directed energy weapon is immensely powerful. In order to properly disperse heat, the ship must separate frontal sections before it can fire the Daedalus Cannon. ( press , to initiate transformation.)

It's the second one I believe, clearly labelled. You'd put move reach destination (self) in this case as the trigger off. Or something like that.

A quick search of the "Shipmaking info and Help" forum revealed this (Mak0's guide to triggers) : viewtopic.php?f=62&t=3666

^already looked at it, didn't make any sense to me. however I was able to figure it out on my own after about 20 minutes of fiddling with SM.

Yeah, that's basically it. A bit of practice and time spent to get used to it and you won't have to ask any more questions. It's all fairly straightforward, kae thought his setup through pretty well I think.

New ships! each with special unfilled roles Sort of...

Image

The Ts'ari use these beam cannons as defense platforms for important sectors, colonies, and stations. The immobile station is built around the center line Directed energy cannon. the cannon itself can rip through capital ships like wet toilet paper, while its flank mounted ship to ship plasma guns can engage smaller frigate and corvette sized vessels to prevent flanking attempts.

as the cannon fires, the side panels recoil to absorb heat.

The Poseidon class assault carrier fulfills the roles of both a main cruiser and a light drone carrier at the cost of maneuverability. commissioned in the early 2330's, this is one of the oldest hulls in the fleet. however, several retro fits and extra armor have kept the 8 carriers in the fight through out the War of first encounters. Its main guns are some of the most powerful coil guns known to man, so they have cooling vents that open every time a round is fired.

Two updates in one day! Preposterous mumbo-jumbo!

Image
The Titan Class super capital was built following the 2360's as the UNGW fleets main deterrent for any hostile Xenos and Waring factions. As the largest ship ever designed by human hands, the ship is often featured on recruiting campaigns and propaganda. There is little to be said about the ship that any passer-by on the street won't know. "its big. really big. and kicks the hell out of just about anything else out there" - anonymous UNGW cadet.

I can't think of too much to say about the Ts'ari ship but I'm quite a fan of the Poseidon, it's an all round nice design.
The Titan is good at first but on closer inspection it looks a bit messy. The back half is great, though the wing connections look spindly on the joint bit. You should probably thicken them up a bit. The section style changes noticeably in the middle area (particularly the inner core area), though that's not really a bad thing. My real complaint is with the front. The arms (slim connecting sections) look weird and kind of messy and the hands look bland and uninteresting compared to the rest of the ship. It's not so much that they're bad as that they don't hold a candle to everything else and thus they let the ship down. Though less original looking (and probably less fitting with the style of the fleet), the whole thing might look better with a more normal closed nose. Either way I think you should redesign the front of it so it all works together well.

Thanks. I plan on cleaning it up a bit with the advice you gave me on frontal section usage, however the basic shape will remain largely the same as this was built after the war of first encounter, so its much more advanced and uses some Ch'bet/ reverse engineered Ts'ari design elements acquired during the war. but I will try to make the frontal sections start more closed off like the other super caps, then transform to reveal the main beam cannon in the front. I will post an image when done.

Well, after about a week of vacation in long island NY, I have returned to building. After succesfully getting entirely frustrated with fixing my Previous XSOR and TITAN class ships, I have decided to move on, and possibly redo them all entirely. But in the meantime, I got board and introduced a new faction and made a few tiny ships.

Image
Following the War with the Ts'ari, Humanity lacked a common enemy. Several outer colonies were suffering from shortages of supplies and in an attempt to gain public support began boycotting the UNGW. During this time, Several mercinary groups Saw an opportunity to make massive profit, and thus offered these colonies protection and supply chains. thus. The United Systems Rebel Front, or U.S.R.F was born. Since the group's military is in fact made up of multiple Militias Vieing for control, many of their ships have varying levels of technology. from directed energy to chemical propelled Kinetics, this group has every type weapon system know to human kind, as well as some Joint alien-human designs. the above "Katana" Main frigate is an excellent example. Utilizing a main gun which uses chemical burn traditional Ferro-tungsten rounds fired from an 8 shot Vulcan cannon. Though each shell is weaker that a coil guns individualy, the volume of fire allows the shells to do compounding damage to armor plating and superstructures. the secondary weapons are directed energy weapons similar to those on an Olympus class carrier.

Image
Also this, the Democles Class corvette. The mainline scout ship for the UNGW, this speedy ship uses light javelin missiles and a traditional chemical burn main gun to ward off corvette or smaller vessels.

Heh, orange faction, I like orange.

I'm Liking that frigate there! It isn't as good as the Ch'bet corvette thingy but its pretty darn close. Hope to see more of dem rebels! The Democles looks okay, but it's so darn tiny I can't make its details out.

Smexy stuff man, keep 'em a-coming!
