More of Calvin's ships

Let's face it, the main attraction of BSF is building your own ships. Share them! If you need help, check the Shipmaker Info & Help forum a little ways down.

More of Calvin's ships

Post by calvin1211 »

As it turns out, I happen to have several ships that I built, but never released for whatever reason. I figured I'd just release them here instead of just letting them sit in my game folder.

Unreleased AA ships

Remember Meta 2? I had several designs for the AA, but due to either my lazyness or their poor combat ability, I never submitted them for approval. So here they are.

AA-CR6-CL Sapphire Command Cruiser
Image
Size: 170
Mass: 28900/28900
Energy: 2390/2400
Section HP: 13565
Speed: 1.25
Acceleration: 0.04
Turning: 0.54

Power Core
1x Ultra-Heavy

Propulsion
4x Light

Armament
10x Heavy Autocannon
5x Vulcan
2x Heavy Missile Array
5x CIWS Gun

Modules
1x Sensor Array

Intended as general purpose flagship. Didn't perform as well in combat as well as I'd hoped.

Teal 1.2
Image
Size: 140
Mass: 19600/19600
Energy: 2400/2400
Section HP: 7470
Speed: 2.87
Acceleration: 0.07
Turning: 1.06

Power Core
1x Ultra-Heavy

Propulsion
4x Standard

Armament
2x Autocannon
2x Vulcan
2x High Energy Laser
2x CIWS Gun

An intended reworking of the Teal fast attack destroyer, which I was never really satisfied with.

Agate EW Destroyer
Image
A version of the Agate with doodads added.

Aquamarine Fire Support Battlecruiser
Image
I seem to have misplaced the stat sheet for this one.
Combat ability was atrociously bad, which was why it never was submitted for approval.

AA-IVG4-CL Breeze
Image
Size: 50
Mass: 2500/2500
Energy: 410/550
Section HP: 380
Speed: 1.72
Acceleration: 0.04
Turning: 0.72

Power Core
1x Ultra-light

Propulsion
1x Ultra-Light

Modules
1x Sensor Array

Small and cheap scout vessel.

AA Cerulean 1.2
Image
Size: 80
Mass: 6400/6400
Energy: 850/850
Section HP: 2725
Speed: 1.41
Acceleration: 0.04
Turning: 0.61

Power Core
1x Light

Propulsion
1x Light

Armament
2x Vulcan
2x High Energy Laser
2x CIWS Gun

Modified Cerulean assault frigate. Downsizes the engine from a Standard to a Light and loses a small amount of armour, but gains an extra laser. Handled combat metter than the original in most situations. I guess I was too lazy to submit this.\

There's more that I will be posting sometime later, that don't involve Meta 2.

These look great. I'm afraid I don't have any criticism to offer. I look forward to seeing the rest that you have.

I really like the use of the team color stripes on these. I need to start doing stuff like that cuz your able to take otherwise grey shaded ships and make them eye catching. I dunno if it would look good or junky but have you tried doodads for windows? I think vidboi or someone did that relatively recently and it looked awesome.

Twas Anna that did that. But these were made before windows were thought of being used.
Nice to see that you used my specialized cores after all.

You mean it took you this long to notice?

Anyway, 1 more ship for now.

One of the largest and most complicated ships that I had made so far. I quite like the way this one turned out, although I'm still not satisfied with the prow.
I started experimenting with colour scheme with this one.

Also: downloads for the AA ships.

Heading out the door, so I'll download the pack later, but my first impression of the latest ship (Preying Mantis?) is damn, that looks nice. It reminds me of some of the nicer ships in the last beauty pageant.

Kudos on making octagonal look good.

If it resembles some of the entries in the last BP, it's probably not just coincidental. Some parts (e.g. the core and the main struts connecting the 3 hulls) were based off the ones on the Syracuse. :D

Hey, I'm new to the shipbuilding scene, trying to see what different techniques people use.
May I ask what sprites you were using to build that? And how did you pull off the blue holographics in the front?

Thanks

Sprites are the Shiny set by Kaelis, HM's realistic set, and SS_prosectionax.
The blue glows use a modified fake aegis effect, with the sprites for the front beams from the Fraxy sections (fraxy_107) with the other glows using fraxy_112.
Hope that helps.

Ah, thanks. I have a lot of the more famous sprites and was trying to see what sprites each person used but it was getting hard with the amount I had :P

I absolutely adore this ship, although I would be interested in seeing it without the two things in the front and back jutting out, rather, just having curved parts of the side.
