A loooooooooooooong long looooong time ago... I'll avoid the obvious pun there.
I played BSF when it first came out, spent some time screwing around with ShipMaker. My ships looked awful. Really really awful. Four deranged gophers in a wet paper bag could do better than me. I've only recently got back into it, which is partly why I'm here.
I would do Imperial ships, but I've tried before and was never any good at them. Plus, if we had Imp ships then someone would go ahead and ask for Rebel ships, and most of those just don't work with BSF. They're too 3D. (See Rebel Medical Frigate from the end of 5 and the battle in 6) The Mon Cal ships are about the only ones you could do well, but you'd have to get some bio-sections for them to have that 'organic' look.
BUT, if someone is still willing to do Imp ships, I'll be happy to lend a hand.
