yes and before you start posting insults and other rude coments,yes I know the core needs some recoloring, and yes I know it only has 1 weapon, and yes I know it dosent mesh together so great
But what you post is up to you, its up to me to decide wether or not to ignore it

I'm not very fond of the general shape of it, it lacks proportions and curves I would generally see as aesthetically pleasing.
Adding to that, I guess I'm so used to Shiny sprites by now that stock-ish sections look sort of bland. :(

I would asume to you it looks like shit due to the fact yoru used to detailed colored sprites, wereas SCC is limited to blocky bland sprites

I wouldn't say it looks like shit, so don't worry about that. I think that the sprites don't matter that much in what you can make, how you use them is more important.
I think using shapes that are more interesting for your ships might help a lot.

Chiiro has pretty much hit the nail on the head in the nicest way ever. If you want to make sprites like this look good, it's going to take a lot of work.
