LOGH

Let's face it, the main attraction of BSF is building your own ships. Share them! If you need help, check the Shipmaker Info & Help forum a little ways down.

LOGH

Post by guard95 »

I tried to make some ships from Legend of Galactic heroes
a really good japanese anime
i posted some of the images

all the major ships have broadside railguns and frontal railguns
in the anime they normally use the front ones so i have made them slightly better (they can pivot a lot more than the broadside cannons)

To start off, if you plan to make fan ships, it's best to upload some reference pics of the ship, so we can compare your work.

Having said that, you've made quite a lot of n00b mistakes, like using stock green all over, which also hapens to be a tad difficult to see. You've also only used the stock sections (hint:you don't have to ). Finally, the way you've stacked/layered/joined/whatever you did is very bad.

But by all means, look through the fourms, find some ships that you like, and become better :)

To build upon what Imaillusion said: Most people on this forum build for aesthetics. If you do want to use the Stock section styles and stock colours, that's totally fine, and if that's what you prefer to do, that's a-okay. It's simply that most people on this forum won't... really care much. Still, always glad to see a new face. Welcome to the forum. :)

Welcome!
You might try packaging downloads together in a zip file. I recommend 7-zip. If you start using custom sprites that will become more important but for now it just saves us having to click multiple links and keep track of your ships.

I like the general shapes and I can see you put some details on the hulls but as Imaillusion said green on green makes it impossible to see more than shapes. Generally we try to give a ship some depth by using lighter shades on the 'top' pieces, and darker shades on the 'bottom'.

Depending on how serious(read:obsessive compulsive) you are, how much time you want to waste, and whether you continue trying to make ships from this show, here are some links that might help you. Oh and I wanna see you do the Bang Goo if its not already in there, it looks interesting.
