I have started work on a little somethin' somethin'.

No idea as to whether it'll get finished for a few reasons. I couldn't realistically make it any smaller than this due to the size of shiny sections and the odd shapes I'm being forced to work with, and I'm worried I may go over the section limit before I finish it. Still, I'll keep working on it and see what I come up with.

It's a bit of a hassle, but you could composite a few sprites to save space, could you not?

Personally, seeing your finer work is always a pleasure, and I think we need as much life in these forums as we can get.

In many ways composite sprites are more of a hassle than using lots of sections, but if I do go over the section limit it's a solution I'll have to consider.

Going better than I thought. Only 106 sections used so far. I think I'll be able to bring it in under the section limit.

It depends. It's not really a section limit per se so much as a limit on the number of lines/characters you can have in a ship file; weapons and triggers therefore contribute to the problem as well.

Still in need of some major touch-ups and modifications to smooth out bits that I couldn't see as well with the white background, and just to generally improve the over-all structure, but... it's pretty much done.

EDIT:
Some minor alterations to smooth things out a bit.

Have also made some Slipfighters, although realistically they're more the size of miniature corvettes or gunships compared to the Cruiser. Cruiser's also been tweaked a little more. Here's an in-game picture.

I am considering making more High Guard ships, but considering how dead the forum is and how little feedback I've gotten in the way of posts, I'm not sure it's worth the effort it would require. We'll see. It's something to do if I get bored, I guess.
