Re: NEW! Top of the line MECHS! now with download

Post by jwa8402 »

Hehe well it didn't help that I was playing counterstrike duel wielding desert eagles, so I thought it fit. Looks great, I will definitely play with these! One thing with the grunge/camo; I don't have much experience making it work but I've found if nothing else, opening a copy of a given sprite in photoshop and pasting the grunge into the common grey area works pretty good. Gotta save it as a new sprite though and its extra work so probably better just to ask for help from vets. If I come up with any mods I'll show em to ya.

Heimdall, a ship that's not based on a Star Destroyer at all...

Mainly just an experiment to see if I can use Aegis blur to create a smooth texture.

The aegis blur is a good idea, if you look at it from far way that is.

The thing is if you called that a Star destroyer, I would still buy it, lol. I mean you even have most of the main-gun battery correct. Just add tractor beam and a bunch of tie-fighters, lol.

Here's the first custom mod of your mechs, a Blade/Shield mech. With a beam sword (left click to swing) and an aegis shield (right click to switch between protecting the flank or the front), it lacks ranged firepower but is deadly up close.

Liking the mech, the shield does seem a little "out there" however.
No matter, I have made a new carrier/dreadnaught for my mechs.
Its still uncolored and lacks weapons, triggers, or any other fluff but hey, I'm not sure what to add and would love to use some CnC.

Taskmaster
The navy-built warship is used by all factions and has extreme destructive potential.

Will recolor to match factions, replace mechs, etc.
...and maybe improve the engines.

The two back sections the outer engines are mounted to jut out at weird angles. It would have probaly looked better if they were swept back more

Apart from that, and areas where it looks a bit messy, it's a good ship all round

I don't like it it has bad stretching all over, like the engines, about the only area which looks okay are the mech ''struts''.
Just because of the simplicity, and the idea.
Nothing is forever. It can't be. 'Cause everyone changes.

I'm surprised no one said the engines were "slapped on like an afterthought"...cause they were
I'm just using those for now, I'll make them look better when I have the time.

Tell me where you see stretching. I know for a fact that there is none. Sometimes imagehost does like to blur up some parts of pictures though...
This ship will look better (I hope) when I...
-add mech deploying animation
-add more engine supports
-add color and glows
-add doodads
-maybe add more contrast to decrease cluttered look, if the other stuff doesn't do so already.
-add some other stuff (open to suggestions!!)
