Un-Named Alien Fleet (First (posted) Ships)

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Un-Named Alien Fleet (First (posted) Ships)

Post by Sorn »

Ive been lurking for awhile, and have decided to post my better ships. These four are all part of an alien fleet (as of now un-named).

This is an overview of the ships, with their name/class.
Image

Anti-Fighter Corvette

Image

The Anti-Fighter Corvette has two particle rifles that shoot five weak shots a volley, in order to cut through weak fighters.
They also have two quad blasters underneath their spines to protect the back of the ship.

Corvette

Image

The Corvette has two strong particle rifles, and a single forward mounted Sabot Cannon to destroy enemy escort ships.
The point defence missiles also help to protect any destroyers they are escorting.

Destroyer

Image

The destroyer uses long range, high damage weapons to crush large slow targets.
All the weapons have a relatively low projectile speed, so faster, and more maneuverable ships can avoid them.
The weak hull of the destroyer, and lack of point defences makes it almost necessary to have an escort with them.

Minelayer

Image

The Minelayer is capable of laying down a minefield to cover retreats, or protect bases.
Its only actual guns are close range and low damage, making it near useless on the front lines.
Its best defence is its Gravatic Impeader's which can bring a full volley of twenty shots to a stand-still.

Constructive criticism welcomed.

Ps. I was wondering if someone could point me to some of the better SW sprites.

some nice ships here good colour scheme, i particularly like the destroyer and the anti fighter corvette but i feel the other corvette doesn't look like it belongs with the fleet, the minelayer is very nice however but i don't like the split front but hey thats my personal preference. oh ive just noticed that the rorschach on the destroyer is quite ugly why did you stretch it? also the corvette would look better with some exhaust flare sprites i think.

those ships are definitely interesting. the flashbolter (?) thing seems a bit out of place on the destroyer, like it was slapped on as an afterthought. not so, on the minelayer, they look good as they are. the spines i like, but i feel that they should be swept back a bit more. the corvette... i just gotta say bleh. minelayer i like, just needs a bit of streamlining IMO. sharpen up the nose on the destroyer, and lop off those "long range charges". sweep back the spines on the anti fighter, and it'll be a winner. Finally, please change the cholor scheme. IMHO aliens should be dark and foreboding, or have some sort of outlandish color (take the aliens from the campaign as an example), not some baby-blue-ish color.
all in all, i like them.

yeah but it is a nice colour scheme maybe your right that it doesn't suit an alien craft but it still looks good, other points are completely agreed upon however

Ok, the first ship I've edited is the Minelayer, I smoothed up the front, and changed the colors.
Do you like the colors, dark green and light gray, or should I go even darker?

Mucho mejor!

Diggin' the color scheme, although i don't like how there is like a crack down the middle, so tighten that up a bit. tuck the minelayers in some, and sweep back the rearmost spines just a bit. finally, those machine guns seem a bit out of place IMO. this is MUCH better.
