HorseMonster Spaceships

Let's face it, the main attraction of BSF is building your own ships. Share them! If you need help, check the Shipmaker Info & Help forum a little ways down.

I basically remade the whole thing and the result looks pretty good in-game.

The thrusters might look absudly vulnerable, but I like how they look.

They aren't actually meant to be anything in particular, I was just making spaceships for the sake of spaceships.

The colors make them look more Nazi,USSR than pirate-y.

New rise of socialistic space flight?

If it were a comedy its name would be "Comunists in SPACE!"
=P

But It ain't, those ships just need the hammer and sickle to be a first addition to a communist/USSR fleet.

But on their own these ships are nice, they fit together nicely and the colors are muted and dull, something you would expect from a spacecraft that does combat at visual range, sorta like the grey of military ships in the seas of our world.

Not sure about how close the front two side guns are, I can see why they are there but when they rotate often they overlap, and it doesn't quite look natural that they do.
The Thrusters are neat, even if the effects are just the bog-standard, maybe some more usage of your realistic looking effects for them would look better. Might have to make the animated if you can have animated thrusters, so it doesn't get to look static when they are ingame.

overall look is really nice and I give much applause to these ships. Keep up the awesome work.

@Homer, if you hit the fuel lines, with the weaponry used in these games the entire rear end of most starcraft would be blown to pieces and then the ship would be just another asteroid. A single hole in the fuel lines would suck all the fuel out in about a minute due to the vacuum. Any breach of the hull would impact hugely on the overall structure of the ship and it would quite simply break appart under the stresses which would normally be fended off by the stability of the structure. Its why modern spaceships fear space debris so much.

IDK mostly rambling here as these are warships designed for this, meh.

The fuel lines would probably have emergency valves for holes and at least I wouldn't place them anywhere near the outer walls.
Oh and what are firing arcs on those guns?

The two close together ones are have arcs of 70 degrees, the two at the back have 80 degree arcs, the ones on top have 110 degree arcs and the big one has a 100 degree arc.

Very nice looking alien there HM, the only thing i can say is that the rear most 'tails' look like the are supposed to be curved out with the other 4 'tails'.

I'm liking those sections, they are rather neat, seeing them and others in a pack would be cool. Unless they already are in a pack and I'm just blind.

Nope, these are new sections that I made today because I thought that all of the current generation of sections were utterly wank for producing spacecraft that look either like they are biological in nature or are carved from stone.

I won't release a specific section pack because that would mean paying due attention to the sprite naming rules, which I have no intention of doing. I will however release a ship pack at some point with the required section files included. That way you get your sections and I get to use whatever the hell file names I feel like.

For an example of interesting looking spaceships you can make with these sections I made this little thingy.

That sounds like a dick move to make. It takes what, 5 minutes to name properly your sprites? And its not like you HAVE to use those names in your own ships, its up to you.

If you're that lazy, just give the sprites to someone else and let them name them properly, sheesh...

I'll do it for you if you're that lazy.

Its not like most of the packs released follow those rules anyway. I don't actually care what you name yours as long as people who release ships built with them keep their naming system the same. Otherwise we end up with three folders for each pack.

The ship is meh compared to your other ones. I liked the Shadow looking vessel, you could do some wicked B5 ships with these. I wouldn't mind seeing that texture on the alien pieces or new larger ones.

I like this new ship, it sorta looks like its supposed to link up with others and for m a circle of em facing outwards to produce a warp gate or something else cool.

Naming conventions are easy to follow, just put the pack's initials and then numbers. I mean how much simpler can you get? If you want to give a reference guide to each pieces usage then stick a text file in with em saying which each section is for. Not that many people would listen, but still its better than not releasing a pack just for being lazy.
