However, they
-have to hit the target and not fly through it.
-must get past any potential defences.
-need to be maneuvered into position. And with a ship as big as the Vulcan I doubt the simplicity of the task. Especially if the enemy tries to flank it.

see those banks of artillery along the sides? try flanking that...

pd other than lasers isn't going to have much effect onm them anyway. something travelling that fast (and with enough mass to bury itself deep inside battleships before explosing) is going to be posing more of a threat to oncoming projectiles itslef

also the ultra heavy HEAPEMACs are powerful enough to rip apart most ships without detonating, and when they do they rip apart anything, so if they exploded consistently it would be too powerful

the major problem is the manouevering, which - as you correctly pointed out - isn't something that the vulcan-class exactly excels at. atleast it's got plenty of artillery and torpedos to back it up...

Can't wait to rip into it.
Take your time, though.

a. here it is then...
BB Vulcan-Class.sb4
shipmaker file...
(88.26 KiB) Downloaded 228 times
BB Vulcan-Class.shp
...and the ship itself
(79.28 KiB) Downloaded 252 times
..not sure about how you're going to go about "ripping into it" though ;D

b. whut?

First, I shall analyse the design and look for weakness.
Then I shall devise a countermeasure for the vessel.
And them I shall keep improving it until your ship is nothing but scrap metal.

PS: Holy sanctified feces, that's tough.

lol, i could see that coming. i designed it specifically to take on entire fleets. there's not really much in the way of countermeasures than lots of ships, lots of firepower and a fair bit of sacrifice

I think I may have already discovered a weakness.
I take it you left it's arse unprotected on purpose?

yep, that's the weakness, now, try getting to it!

and i am making no comment upon the malicious rumour that the battleship design was once defeated by a zelus that attacked it from behind.

Hey did you put the core so far back on purpose by the way?
I kind of wiped it out with a weapon that was only supposed to take down it's engines by accident.

yeah it's normally safest there, and it's logical to put the reactor core near the engines where it's most needed

what weapon was it btw?

Let's just say it's a bitch to shoot down and can vapourise the better part of a warship or the surface of certain celestial bodies. Gotta fix that first bit.
Now if I could just finish it's primary targets.

lol (i'm sorry!) i'm gonna make some cruisers etc. that are smaller, but the dreadnought's gonna be huge. the plan is atleast four times bigger than the battleships, and the weaponry, well, i'll leave it up to your imagination...

it will aptly be named Fatum Ipsum Stultorum (latin for "the just fate of the foolish" or "the just fate of fools")

Even bigger, you say?
Next we'll find out it can pop a friggin SSD if it so much as looks at it.

Planets.
Got a semi-functional test going but I couldn't find big enough pictures to continue.
But this is your thread so I'll shut up about that.
