Areze's Shipyard

Let's face it, the main attraction of BSF is building your own ships. Share them! If you need help, check the Shipmaker Info & Help forum a little ways down.

Have you considered merging the arms into the hull?
To me, it looks like they're the only thing that really stands out from the rest of the fleet

I just might do that.

Anyway, I was initially going to make a battleship to replace the Luhni. I, uh, went a tad overboard...

I am actually quite proud of this big bastard, even if my computer's most likely not good enough to use it. :P The arms, once again, look somewhat off, but not nearly as much as the Luhni did.

The power of the Empire personified! This majestic megadreadnought is the pride and joy of the empire's yards. The flagship of the entire fleet. So tremendously gargantuan, we needed to build it in a modular style throughout the nation and put them together near the capital. Named after the mother of the empire's founder and first emperor, the 'Mother of the Fleet' stands by along with it's escort of dreadnoughts to crush any and all who threatens the empire!

The connection between the arms and the main body is far too thin. Can you post a pic at normal zoom, with parenting off?

The darker gray sections appeared the same color with the glow (I still hate that fucker, but turning it off for every individual section is an enormous pain in the ass.), so I recolored them. Might make all the light gray sections flat white (almost as big a pain in the ass), and redid the coloring in general. Thickened arms.

There's too much repetition of sections to look at. There's also too much detail on the ship, mainly due to the repetition.

Other than that, the way that some of the sections are blacked out is a bit odd,but it's not bad. The shape is okay

The Brothers and Sisters of the Bukhtar

Brothers and sisters; rejoice, as the Geisepi pagans failed in their attempts to exterminate our people and our faith! We live! Our lungs still breath; our hearts still beat! Our HATRED STILL BURNS! We stand once more on OUR own feet! Let the pagan dogs know fear at our righteous anger! Let them cry in misery as we rip their precious nation down brick by stone-cold brick! For too long, we have had nothing but our flaming hate to keep us going. For too long our mothers have died so our children may live. FOR TOO LONG our fathers have watched, helpless! as those children died in their arms, helpless from malnourishment and the cold. For too long our descendants have wept as our forgotten holy places gave been desecrated and destroyed, our birthplaces defiled by pagan hands and pagan sin! NO! MORE! The stars will be ours once more! The pagans shall weep in fear and misery as we break them for their ancient crimes! We will reclaim what is our birthright! They will know our pain! They will fill their burnt-out oceans with their own tears before we claim our revenge! LET THE GALAXY BURN!

Our fleet is even now being constructed for our glorious crusade. We begin with this, the future pride of the fleet, the mighty Thunderlord. This god-like ship shall take on even the mightiest of Geisepi 'dreadnoughts' and break them like panes of glass!

Whew. Anyway, the hull is not done, but I wanted to post what I've got, and the fact that, as a Captain Obvious moment, the Geisepis now have a playmate. Innit they cuuuuuute?

To start, don't talk about pagans and crap, that relates to religion and it pisses people off

... how is that ship even remotely cute? :?

And the fact you're referring to them as "playmates" is slightly worrying

In this case, the word 'playmate' has the same meaning as Humans and the Nanz being 'best friends', by the way.

And about the ship. I don't know what look you're aiming for but the 24's at the top seem out of place.

It's only worrying if his ships form a sexual relationship.

Your ship design needs work at best.
the coloring needs to be less flat for a start, depth the colors, by fiddling with the Lumnosity of the color, making that color brighter or darker, and adding a 3d look to ships, or at the very least making it look slightly more interesting.

Also take your time on these, and proof check them, because I can see at least one section that is colored wrong according to its mirror.

try piecing sections together to flow, rather than just jut out, your current look is sorta like legos, when you want it to look like a single piece.

and do try the SW sprites avaliable in the custom sprites area, there are also tutorials on how to make them work in there too.

go and look at how the ships in Anna's workshop look and fit together. The ships in there are designed by real pros, and their construction can be seen in there and it may give you ideas, or help you work out how to place sections better.

Have fun and keep improving.

If you want to turn off the glow, go to Options in Battleships Forever (not the Shimaker.) See that button that says Color? Keep clicking it until it says Glow. Then slide all the bars to the left.

The cute thing and everything else was meant to be facetious. I was sort of referencing the fact that the Bukhtars are religious fanatics who want to destroy pretty much everything. The Bukhtars are really supposed to believe all that and want the Geisepis dead because of it. So yeah, the cute part was sarcasm.

I'm making these ships in the original BSF style too, the tech parts are almost certainly out of my league as of yet. Glow is set to black in my game. I would depth them, indeed, I initially did with the Yakaliina and the Kusavihla, but it didn't work so I scrapped the idea, might be just the Geisepis' coloring scheme).

I got the 24's replaced. I'll admit it looks better this way. I was working towards something else initially (A Geisepi Carrier, the core sections reflect that, being cuboid as they are). The tail sections of the central node and frontal arm pieces are really bugging me, but they're a placeholder so they'll get axed for something more fitting soon.

Pretty much finished. This oughta put the fear of the Sightless One in the Geisepis!

Double post, but I finally caved and took a crack at this shipwright tomfoolery.

Pirate Cruiser. because Pirates are awesome.
Image

This is of course a bare basic. Meant more to be an experiment and sharpen my teeth on this. If I get (too) ambitious, I might try and make the Hades (A Bukhtar supership) with these things.

EDIT: Shit, forgot engines. I'll update it in a jiff.

EDIT2: It's up.

EDIT2.5: Bite me, I'm still getting the hang of this. Added some depthing.

Stock weapons don't go well with SWA sections. To change the sprite, select the weapon, go to the ED2 tab, then click on change weapon sprite. Go to Custom Sprites, then select the sprite of your choice. I recommend Se7vn's weapon sprites. Is that how you write his name?

As far as I can tell, you've only used the stock sections that have been SWA-modded. There are a lot more SWA sections out there, and you're better off using a larger variety of them, because that current ship is a bit too generic

No worries. I knew about the sections, and even solved it. The ship there I edited a bit to fit more.

Say Hello to the Huskarl-class missile destroyer. This puppy sports two IR missile pods (modified missile launchers that fire twelve rounds at 35 a pop. Really long reload) and two torpedo launchers. It is perfect for long-range raids against lightly armored merchantmen and even government ships aren't above hiring the captains of these fearsome ships as mercenaries.
Image

Truly any merchant's nightmare, as well as a great many commodores! The Odin-class dreadnought bears a veritable forest of weaponry, with Twin Autocannons, IR missile pods (even a rare IR Heavy Missile Pod), and torpedoes. It even has an EMP Torpedo Launcher to shut down those who dare fight the captain of this rare, and enormously powerful dreadnought.
Image

Just a pic of an Odin and some Huskarls together.
Image

Just some notes
- I'm aware that the frontal grayish-black section on the front of the Odin is crooked. It's a turret.
- I'm tempted to rename the aforementioned Odin to the Thor, due to it being primarily offensive, and making the Odin more of an all-around capital ship (for obvious reasons). Should I bother, or no?

EDIT: Moar.

Image

The Berserkr-class is a rare battlecruiser that utilizes cutting-edge, state-of-the-art weaponry. Including the preposterously illegal 'Ion Lash' (fore turret, near the core). It is a devastating enemy to face and the glow of it's plasma storage tanks give it a ghostly appearance. For this reason, of course, pirate lords, who are the only ones who can afford it, love it. Due to the powerful plasma weaponry, and it's speed and lack of effective armor means it lives up to it's name.
